Pick who is your selection for all-time best DC United Attacking Midfielder, while with DC United. The criteria is up to you: minutes, quility over a length of time, most brilliant moment, likeability, etc.

If your favorite is not on the list, then we can have a challenge knock-off election in a subsequent thread.

I'll take nominations for the two forward positions at this point. Some of the obvious selections are Raul Diaz Arce, Jaime Moreno, Roy Lassiter, Jamil Walker, Freddy Adu.

Jaime and Rocket Roy. Diaz Arce misses by just a little.

You pretty much filled in all the blanks I would have.

But Tino should be on the list.

Maybe Chris Albright and then there's the fringe players:

Zambrano, Thiago Martins, Quintanilla....and even Earnie Stewart (man, did Hudson waste a year with that plan).

I remember one game (I believe in 2002) when Hudson played Pope at forward.

Mark Simpson has also played forward.

You're talking about Albright at forward and THEN you included the "fringe players"

Apparantly your memory is better at blacking out those years with Chris up top than mine is.

Yeah, but then look at that list of fringe players. It's really the bottom of the barrel, Chris is ever so slightly above the likes of Zambrano.

Not that it really matters, but isn't it Lazo Alavanja?

As I have been doing these threads, I am really surprised at how incapable I am of remembering important players from the Ray Hudson years. I really need to be more on top of my fact checking from the particular era for which I suffer selective amnesia. I mean no offense to Lazo, or his fans, and I apologize.

And I was so going to vote for "Lazy" Alavanja but I could not bear the thought of how badly you would roast me. :D

It's not just you....I knew El Diablo retiring would cure about 50% of the board's problems, and I was right :p

It was a substitution, but yes he brought in Pope to go up top at the end of a game and play forward - I guess for some height in the box. I remember a couple of the other guys sort of looking downfield in disbelief when he came in. Eddie looked back and, in classic understated Eddie Pope fashion, quickly shrugged his shoulders. :D
