well, i'm not gonna grade everyone, but i can tell you one thing ......... Nelsen was our best player on the night and Convey SUCKED ......... AGAIN!! I'm beginning to think that it would have been much better for DC if his permit had gone through. He gives up possession far too easily and it lead to MANY counterattacks at the end of the game.

    Pigs Eye (St. Paul),
Quintanilla set up Cerritos very nicely. They should have had a goal on that one. The fact that he is starting regularly must mean that he's playing well.

Cerritos seems to have lost his finishing touch. He had several chances that he should have converted. His shot doesn't seem dangerous. I suspect he won't start next week.

yes convey sucked. this is the real convey.. for the past four years he has been given everything. he doesn't play above anyone to warrant all this attention for the past 4 years. if hudson would of been the coach when convey first came in he would of been off the bench and would not of been given all this press from the beginning. he would of just been like all the rest of the young players coming in.paying their dues and getting more playing time each year.. He has not shown ever that he is above any other player in mls on any team!!!

There are plenty of other threads full of Convey-bashing at the moment. Let's keep this thread to player grades and player grade bashing, please.

    Here's my take,

Rimando 5 Too many soft goals this year
Ivanov 4 Can we actually mark someone
    Petke 6 Tough. Competative.
Nelsen 6 Very Solid. Shows Captain's leadership.
Prideaux 6 One of his better one on one games.
Quintanilla 4.5 A few flashes then disappears.
Kovalenko 5.5 The midfield glue. Fights everywhere
    Etcheverry 4.5 See Q2
Olsen 5.5 Competative two way play.
    Cerritos 5 Disappointing. Missed chances.
Stewart 4.5 Continues as major league bust of 03

Convey 5 Needs to return from White Hart Lane
Eskandarian 4 Give the Riverhound a try
Namoff 5 Contributed but not his best game

The funny thing is that there is another thread commenting on "are Quaranta's days numbered", and the vast majority of people believed that they should be (not me). The rationale that quaranta should be gone is that DC has this plethora of talent at forward and/or midfield (stewart, cerritos, convey, quintanilla, etc). Well, after a performance like this, all the DC fans (like myself) can see why they need to find a way to get Quaranta's head in the game and his HEALTHY body on the field.

Rimando - 4 he continues to scare me on simple plays
    Ivanov - 4.5
    Petke - 6
    Nelsen - 6
Prideaux - 4.5 seemed very shaky
Quintanilla - 5.5 silly emotional mistakes, but good attack-minded passing
    Kovalenko - 6
    Etcheverry - 5
    Olsen - 5
    Cerritos - 5
    Stewart - 6

    Convey - 4.5
Eskandarian - 3.5 too bad A-League is done, he needs some time there
    Namoff - 5

second OTs were a b**ch Saturday!

    Rimando - 6
    Ivanov - 5
    Petke - 5.5
Nelsen - 6.5 (so often in the right place at the right time)
    Prideaux - 5.5 (6.5 on D, 4.5 on passing
Quintanilla - 5.5 (agree: he was looking for red)
Kovalenko - 5 (first touch often too strong)
    Etcheverry - 5
    Olsen - 6
Cerritos - 5 (add a point if he finishes, 1.5 if he assists)
Stewart - 5 (Waay too much D for a forward, but does it well)

Convey - 4.5 (not involved enough)
    Eskandarian - 4
    Namoff - 5.5

The right subs at the right time, but we were giving up too much space in the midfield, especially in the first half.

Here are two threads where you can discuss the merits of Bobby Convey getting to play or not.

    - open header in front of the goalie ... WTFO!?
    - Earnie had the game winner and missed it
    - Cerritos didn't have an angle but he did have Etch .. but didn't make the pass
    - Eski ... oh was he on the field?
    - Q2 much higher grade without all the BS fouls
    - Convey's depression-pass should have expired by now ... no more excuses!!
    - Namoff continues to impress all things considered
