    I want to make some observations. There was some years that El Gráfico did not provide the final ratings or ideal teams after the campaigns had ended. For example, 1979 had every game rated but unfortunately no final list was provided. The only way to work around this would be to have every game with its player ratings and then figure the average of each, but it’s a tedious work to do. But what I can do is provide the match ratings of each round of years like 1979 and see what stands out from the key players (more on that at another time).

    So as previously mentioned, I will have to go round per round to find what stands out for 1979.

    The metro 1979 tournament consisted of 18 rounds before it went to playoffs. It was divided into two groups.

    Below each game El Gráfico used to award the man of the match.

    That was the final round. The top 4 teams would then go to the playoffs.

    Now with all ratings available from every round, the tedious task will be to calculate the average of each player. I will get to that at another time. If someone wants to try it, you are welcome to give it a shot.

    Apart from the Metro Championship there was also a Nacional tournament afterwards. Once I finish with the first competition I’ll move onto the second to complete the 1979 year.

    I Have the idea to standardize these resume to other leagues, considering only First Division championship.

    More or less, this way (ARG vs SPA):
    Metropolitano = La Liga 1st Div
    Nacional = Copa del Rey

    But, when I checked every season, seems to being more important Nacional tournament than Metropolitano?
    - Spots for Copa Libertadores = Metro (0) + Nacional (2)
    - Nacional tourn. was the last one in the calendar, as a "main course".

    Maybe, it's more like the peruvian tournaments in the 1980s:
    - The 1st semester playing Regional tournaments (being the most important Lima-Callao tournament = Metropolitano)
    - The 2nd semester, playing a Nacional tournament (Liguilla, considering only regional champions)

    I have calculated the averages of some of the most popular players in the 1979 Metropolitan. It may be interesting to have them as a reference.

    Exceptional work, thanks! I will post the National Championship to complete the 1979 year.
