Hopefully this thread hasn't been started already, but I couldn't find it. Let's start a thread for the following four-year cycle after the 01-04 one, which is still being tracked here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/yanks-on-foreign-ynts-01-04-yobs-and-younger.2111895/ To kick things off (ha! I sure am clever) here's an American '08 at Tijuana with Mexico's U15s I hadn't been aware of before today. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/osvaldo-cabanillas-at-tijuana.2126848/

Dylan Judelson (Canada) & Jarell Bonilla (El Salvador) (plus 4 for Puerto Rico) called in for U15 tournament: 1687584337187774464 is not a valid tweet id
'08 Viggo Ortiz (Austin FC) is with Mexico U15 '08 Sheridan McNish (NE Revolution) is captaining Trinidad & Tobago U15 '10 Kamil Castillo (DC United) is with Dominican Republic U15 Apparently all who play in the tournament will be provisionally cap-tied. An incomplete list of those who apparently turned down a foreign U15 roster spot for this tournament as to stay eligible for the US: '08 Zidane Yanez (NYCFC) declined Puerto Rico '08 Micah Harris (Houston Dynamo) declined Dominican Republic. Was with US U15s in spring '09 Gabriel Florentino (Inter Miami) declined Dominican Republic As for '08 Chance Cowell, he may have turned down invites from both the US and Mexico.
FWIW, The Mexican and Canadian federations had informed players in their pools last week that the information that was being sent out by US Soccer regarding this tournament cap-tieing players is false and was apparently verified with FIFA/CONCACAF. I've heard there's a number of players who are both Canada/USA eligible and Mexico/USA eligible who dropped out of the tournament all together because they weren't confident enough with the information provided. Two players in the Canada squad originally dropped out of the roster after initially hearing the news and then re-joined once they were given confirmation by the Canadian federation. Have to imagine one was Judelson from Orlando.
Cap-tying U15s is kind of ridiculous in my opinion. Unless they play in a WCQ or an actual World Cup they shouldn’t be tied to a federation until they are 16+.
Virginia-born CF Montreal academy defender Eliott Germain-Aubrey was apparently another one who dropped out of the tournament with cap-tying rules unclear. Eligible for US and Canada; would have been with Canada U15s if accepted.

That's a bad look from US Soccer and not in character. Wonder if someone there misread the info. Hope they apologize and if it was on purpose punish those that did that. Easy way to make enemies of players and their families for no reason.
Naperville North’s Hindo Allie scores goal for Sierra Leone, then returns to school and scores again The US born young man is playing HS ball in Alexi Lalas' favorite city. Did the Fire send U-17 assistant coach Kei Kamara out to have a look? Did US soccer get someone off their ass and make the trip from 303 E. Wacker Drive?
Given our strategy with the senior team, where we've openly encouraged players to try other teams, I have to imagine this is FIFA murkiness and not an intentional move. TBH, is anyone sure the USSF is wrong? The other feds are not known for incredibly competence, either.
I read in the Italian section of the forum that the 2008 prodigy Francesco Camarda could have an American passport, do you know anything about it? If this is true, have our youth national team managers already contacted him?
Hmm, that's interesting. But if he was born in Italy and hasn't lived here, it's possible nobody would know unless he or his family had made the effort to reach out. (Or a "BigSoccer sleuth" had found him I suppose!)
just to understand who he is https://www.sportbible.com/football...marda-premier-league-man-city-488913-20230926
Italy did not qualify for the U17 World Cup. If it is true that he also has US nationality, we must try to call him up because he has the potential to become the new Haaland (at 15 years old, playing against U19 players, he scored 6 goals in 5 matches between the Italian U19 championship and Youth League)
Apologies if this is already known, but FW Valentin Yotov of Bayern Munich's and Bulgaria's U19s was born in Boston and lived in the US until he was 12. This morning, he was named to the Guardian Next Generation List, ostensibly the best 60 2006 prospects in the world.
