Barring any unforeseen issues, there will be party music at the SE tailgate (and through Lot 8) for the rest of the season.
will we be playing JoJo in honor of Freddy? Or Queensryche (something from Rage for Order or O:M 1 or 2) for me? Seriously though ...... cool and strangely, I trust you to pick decent enough music.
I can look for something off of the Queensryche discs - any particular favorites? I hear there's an outside chance that a former SE treasurer who recently moved to the West Coast may be making a special appearance this week...
I've bee looking at the specs and setup video for the system, and I can't lie - I'm totally geeked to finally use this thing.
The system is in my hands, and it's been tested. It's awesome The playlist for the 4/15 tailgate is right here.
Strange, the first thing that came to mind was that endearing little picture of the toe-headed kid from Feyenoord demonstrating his ability to count to one So, even the sound system shows disdain for opposing teams.
Thank Carl Cordes. I asked him last year for suggestions on a system for use at tailgates, and this was one of the three he gave me.
Go to the link in my sig. Different dealers charge different amounts - usually in total its between $2500 and $3000. We got a deal, though.
I must say that the sound system is cool and all, but who's idea was it to put it on some old IKEA shelves sitting on concrete blocks? I mean, it reminded me of college. Thousands of dollars in electronic equipment sitting on concrete-block-and-lumber furniture.
Impressive little unit is that. Could not believe that it pumped out the tunes that loud , that long on batteries.
File that under "learning about the system". It was a temporary, improvised solution. We realized that having it on the ground probably reduced its volume and carrying power. We wanted to check and see if a platform was a worthwhile purchase. The difference, as you heard if you were at the system's debut at the Houston game, was dramatic. At that game, we had it on full volume and near the fence, and the sound wasn't very audible even as you got 10 or so feet into the paved area. We had it on half volume yesterday, and that thing was audible to like 40 yards at least. Part of that was the placement away from the fence, but I'd attribute more of it to the system being elevated (the system is designed to be heard for use at head level of the audience). You'll see some sort of platform soon.
I was thinking maybe a wooden case/stand combination. You know, a crate with foam padding inside, that can be flipped over and used as a stand.
We have an excellent couple-hundred-dollar hard plastic foam-padded case for the system that is intended as a protective means during periods of storage. It would probably work as a stand, but its very bulky and heavy and difficult to get into a small car like mine. Some sort of foldable mechanism would probably serve the purpose better than what we have.
