Hey BA, the wife doesn't like living in New England, can you move me further west? Sure whatever you'd like!
    That's an interesting take.

Laugh if you want, but stuff like that happens. These are human beings. Arena's comments are what lead me to believe that.

And, it's likely not a case of not liking living in New England, rather hardly coming to NE at all.

I wasn't laughing at your comment, it was meant as a laugh with your comment. I know stuff like that happens in all sports. But what does that say about our national team or its coach? We have one player who plays regularly with the Nats and we ship him out for play money. When the Revs need quality players to make a run into the playoffs.

Traustason makes 9 players that have departed since the end of last season (not including Jozy and Lletget, who weren't here last year). That is one third of the Shield-winning roster.

Open ended question: what situation are guys like Tico and Esmir being saved for?

With 4 of our top attackers unavailable in Orlando we went 4 CDMs. When Rennicks was withdrawn we went strikerless for 30 minutes. If not in this game then when? How many of our 30 roster spots (28 occupied as of this writing) actually have any chance of seeing the field?

Not to mention that Rennicks looked totally gassed well before they finally subbed him (although, to his credit, after practically collapsing from exhaustion on the previous play, he summoned enough adrenaline to make solo run to the Orlando box.

This is a great question. But I don't think we've officially signed Esmir yet, right?

Yes, he became official on Thursday (see post 216).

He also played 90 mins for R2 on Sunday, recording his first assist.

    Thank you!

Also, Nacho Gil (Carles' brother) has been training with the Revs.

FWIW, Frank Dell'Apa says that Nacho is not likely a candidate for that spot.

I believe our options are down to free agents until September 2nd.

The window that closed on August 4th was for anyone that "MLS [would have to] request the international transfer certificate of a player under contract in another country."

Anyone else have their heart stop a little bit when Carles gained the penalty last night but then was holding his knee gingerly?

It does feel like we've stabilized quite a bit defensively and are showing a lot more chemistry lately. My main worry is all the injuries at the attacking end. I think for any team to win MLS Cup (or really any major championship), they need good fortune on the injury front. We haven't had that all season, so it seems hard to expect it now - but, regardless, we need to collect the points regardless of how we do it or who we have.

I'm hoping that injuries work out overall. So if we've had all these now, I'm hoping we can get healthy going forward. Ever the optimist!

It has that complexion a little bit, but the Revs are so thin on offense at the moment, that this reads as a good signing under the circumstances.

yeah it was a little tongue in cheek. Hopefully he can add a little depth on the front line and keeping Carles happy would be a bonus.

I feel like Carles told him that in this league, you can give them that little shoulder-fake, stop and start, slide backdoor passes through, etc. and be successful here - and you know how to do that. :D
