There was a lot of talk initially but it's died down since then. A number of people seemed to like "Toros" (though, personally, I think "lawn mower" when I hear that). Others seem to like the fairly innoucuous "Reds". I tend to favor "Bulls"
Here're the results from the poll that we took back in August: Toros....37 Bulls.......8 Burn.....20 Diablos...9 Other....37 https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130386
That doesn't bother me so much....I mean they will ALWAYS find a way to ridicule their rivals. I just think its silly. With teams like Shalke and Hannover, they have the year attached to the name because those clubs were created in those years, and this is the key, individually. We were 'created' at the same time as the league, along with 9 other clubs. There is nothing original about 1996 to Dallas, nothing unique. We share that date with most of the league. To me, it means very little. It would actually make more sense for Chicago to use 98, since they are the only remaining MLS team to be founded that year. Or for Chivas/SLC to use 04, for that matter.
The Crimson Bulls! it flows... "Come on you Crimson Bulls" "One-niiillllll to the Crimson Bulls" Inferno: "CRIMSON!..." Other fans: "Bulls..."
It original because no one uses it. It doesn't matter much either way - I imagine the nickname will evolve once the season starts and it will likely evolve from the mass of casual fans and the media instead of the 100 hardcore fans who usually care about this stuff. So it will be "The Bulls".
That doesn't make it original, it just means we the only one lame enough to use it. Unfortunately you are probably right....particularly if they have a guy in a bull suit running around the stands.
Knowing the enlightened state of casual fans and the media, you'll probably end up being called the "FC's" Lee
