Great! Thanks mate! So if his rating is close to 6.00, why Don Balon do not put him into his ratings recap for the 1992-93 season? Another mistake by Don Balon? BTW Diego rating for the missing game (Sevilla-Barcelona, day 17) from Mundo Deportivo and Marca is 1...which is the equivalent to 5.5-6 i believe?
In the extrapolation that I do, it would be equivalent to a 6. If you were so kind and provided me, if you have it, Maradona's ratings in Marca and Mundo Deportivo (I only have supposed final averages), I could make an average of the three and compare with the work I have done with the rest of the highlights. Regarding what you comment, you are right, although he would have received 4 points on the 17th day, he would be above 5.91 and should appear in the top 100, although you have already seen with Zubizarreta that errors must be abundant.
Thanks mate. I had replied to MJWizards before reading your post. Would you have a problem providing me with the data for matchday 17 to have the season complete? It is the only copy I am missing ...

Im wondering how Diego played comparing to the rest of the competition. How can we compare those ratings from Marca & Mundo to the classic italian scale from 1 to 10? @Vegan10
Give me a few hours or a day to include these qualifications in my excel and I will explain the individual result and the result compared to the rest.
Once the averages you have provided have been included, I include them in the excel table with the most outstanding players in the league 92-93 and Maradona appears in 62nd place, with an average of 6.30, although it is true that the ratings of Brand help you a lot to raise the average. Look at the extrapolation I used for Marca and Mundo Deportivo. It would be very interesting to have the "spades" of As to give greater significance to the press average (does anyone have these or other sources?)
The conversion is the one that appears in the header of the first image. However, I am not entirely happy with the extrapolation of Marca, since the general average increases a bit (6.57 by 6.21 by Don Balon and 6.41 by Mundo Deportivo). If under the correspondence of Marca "1" to 5.5, the global average would drop to 6.26, much closer to the other two sources. If it's of interest, I can post this variation. What I can anticipate is that, for example, the average of Maradona's three sources would drop to 6.22, but at the same time, it would rise to 52nd place in the general classification.
Amazing summary statistics, great! Do you also have links to the seasons before 1975-76 and the later 90's?
Thank you, my colleague. It is true that I handle quite a few sources that give averages for each competition; however, due to lack of time, I start with a significant number of candidates for each season, whose number is decreasing after different sieves that results in the best Spanish players, based on statistics, and an XI derived from those supposed best players. Precisely, in these days I will have finished the 1979-80 season, which I will obviously publish in my thread, after which I will make a statistical summary of the second five years of the 80's and the whole decade.
Yes, it's been a few months since they were published by me. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/a...ish-footballers.2112645/page-26#post-40847039
Hmm, I wonder if that could be a kind of retrospective conversion of their individual match grades, making new averages? Maybe @Titanlux has an idea. Was it from an issue from a later year mate though rather than during 1976 itself? The Don Balon Spanish Player of the Year (which I thought would be based on the ratings IIRC from some later years) did go to Miguel Angel, not Camacho (so consistent with msioux's listing): Spain - Footballer of the Year (rsssf.org)
For many years the scale was not from 1 to 10. In those cases, I made the corresponding conversion that seemed fairer to me so that those grades would be on a decimal scale and would be more useful and understandable for everyone.
On many occasions I commented that the final results differed from what I calculated on a game-by-game basis, something I did, if I recall correctly, for most of the season. I will try to clarify the doubt you have for this particular case.
Good. The image published by Pavlin came out in the magazine, right at the end of the 1975-76 league, a season in which it was graded on a decimal scale. An important detail, the magazine started after the first league games had already been played. The other one came out many years later (in issue 931 of 1993), and for reasons I don't know, perhaps to match the 0 to 3 scale of many of the successive seasons, it was changed from the original one. To complicate the matter a little more, here is a screenshot of what I got.
One hypothesis (perhaps wrong, and I'm not really sure it makes sense): they had given grades for games 1-4 (incorporated into the averages Pavlin found) but couldn't show those in real time after the games because of the start date of the magazine (maybe even things were in place but the final details took longer than expected and they missed the start of the season before they could produce the first magazine...). It is a similar situation with Match Magazine and 1979/80 IIRC re: English ratings (as you'll have seen from the posts of Paul W on that 1st Division/Premier League ratings thread). Thanks for the help and quick responses anyway mate!
