Continued from here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/covid-19-american-acceptionalism.2110823/ Enjoy! This is for discussion of the ongoing Covid pandemic sweeping across the globe..Which.. I guess.. Is pretty much the definition of a pandemic
Nurse at the hospital today said that all staff had been offered a vaccination but quite a few had declined. Seems strange to me.
Cases on the rise in Michigan, now the GOP Senate is proposing Covid restrictions. Wait, what? If Whitmer said guns were good, these fools would propose legislation. Classic. Michigan GOP is pretty much being toddlers.
There's a lot of healthcare workers that are full on antivax and are only in healthcare because it's the best paying option. On a related note, my sister is taking a wait and see approach. Concerns about fertility. I hung up because I wasn't going to argue, but given that we share the same doctor, who is a woman, and she has a friend who is in med school and is fully vaccinated. I'm tempted to tell her to consult those people as you know, they're qualified.
If she is concerned about fertility you should ask her how much plastic she uses on a day to day basis.
I like what my Loons have done in the offseason but very concerned about the prospect of Ike Opara playing this season and holding down the back line.
Speaking of . . . Alternatives, a friend of my older brothers got his vaccine, but says it's bullshit because he's been using the best preventative out there. Listerine. Anyone else hear of this theory? Turns out, it's a thing. And get this, @Cascarino's Pizzeria , it all stems from a preliminary study undertaken at Rutgers! https://www.rutgers.edu/news/certain-mouthwashes-might-stop-covid-19-virus-transmission The company that makes Listerine, largely on advice from counsel, I'm betting, says, "no, don't use our product to treat the vid." https://www.listerine.com/covid-19-update Round one today. Left arm feels pretty much like it does on days when I shoulder press the 24kg kettlebell nce too often.
The Dutch police reported by their Smart Traffic Accident Reporting (Star) that lockdown had a dramaticimpact on the number of accidents in 2020 (80685, 20% less compared to 2019), from March till the end of the year it was a whopping 23% decrease. The number of wounded, 20,682 dropped to 18.511, a mere 11.2 percent. The number of traffic deaths dropped from 556 to 513, minus 10.1 percent.
The day of my first shot I went to the climbing gym and climbed for three hours. Some of this was on stuff at an angle. That obviously did not help. Also, that's up there with Trump's home remedies.
There will be significant effects of the pandemic in many areas and probably for a considerable period of time.
This was a Q&A session on the BBC yesterday which covered some of the matters of interest to viewers... https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/534172770 He mentions there the issue of 'reporting bias' which is a well known phenomenon in epidemiological matters and others. I have to say, as someone who's had the Pfizer jab and will presumably have his follow up in a few weeks, I was a bit worried to hear that some regulators are more concerned with the effects of the AZ jab than they are in some others, i.e. the Pfizer one... particularly as they have a history of such activity in the past. If I'm getting a drug put into me, I'd kinda like the regulators to be as bothered about examining any dangers it might have as another one.
Canada is about to get real bad B117 has basically taken over now. My province is being especially reactive right now. It's annoying and I wish we'd just go into another stay at home type order.
According to the CDC, b.1.1.7 is the dominant variant in the US. If you go to Worldometer and sort by new cases, the big numbers are all in states where the variant is most prevalent. I’m just glad p.1 isn’t really in the US. That’s the variant wiping out Brazil right now.. That one is nasty.
Good news. CDC is now saying that person’s chance of catching covid from a surface is crazy small. 1380215144618295298 is not a valid tweet id
