There may be other options but this should work: https://www.ussoccer.com/lamar-hunt...-san-jose-earthquakes-vs-san-francisco-deltas
Considering how few showed up to see the game.. I doubt it. Deltas sent almost no fans (as they have almost none), and Quakes fans really didn't show despite the game being free for STH. Hell the Ultras couldn't even bother to show up thanks to their protest. And given Deltas situation that may also be the last time they ever face each other
We had about a busload full of supporters that came down for the game. For some reason the San Jose Ultras were not at the game so we were the only vocal supporters group at the stadium. It was interesting to be in San Jose and all you heard were chants for the Deltas. https://www.instagram.com/p/BVaDz-CjIgQ/?taken-by=sf_deltaforce If you watch the highlights of the game on YouTube you can also hear us chanting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=FB4jyW7iGWg A photo of the busload that came down: https://www.instagram.com/p/BVWQ1KSj3wx/?taken-by=sf_deltaforce
I guess that the SJ Ultras didn't show up for the game because they saw their players partying it up at a strip club after they lost to Portland the previous weekend. Wow: https://www.reddit.com/r/SJEarthquakes/comments/6hd0le/san_jose_ultras_statement_on_protest_at_deltas/
To the @SF_DeltaForce... THANK YOU! We're honored to have you on our side. See you Saturday vs @FCEdmontonNow! #OnlyTogether pic.twitter.com/UhdnFQyeyZ— San Francisco Deltas (@sfdeltas) June 16, 2017
And a letter from captain Nana Attakora as well. Pretty classy stuff from the SF Deltas to their fans. #respect https://medium.com/sfdeltas/a-letter-to-the-fans-eb9b640097ba
Deltas Home Attendance Record vs Indy 11: 4133 vs NCFC: 1739 vs Cosmos: 3302 vs Jacksonville: 2201 vs Indy 11: 1441 vs Edmonton: 1894 Average: 2452
Disappointing, esp. the last two games. Conditions were as perfect as they can be for a soccer game at Kezar.
Looks like San Francisco FC may be winning the attendance competition. (well I am not sure how they are doing this year).
I'm sure they are doing well for the PDL but I doubt they are drawing over 2,500 for a game. Anyone have an idea? Haven't made it to a game this seasin.
The comparison is poorly drawn. They are two teams doing vastly different things. Again, I've talked about this before at this link: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/nasl-in-oakland-ca.2042617/page-2#post-35332871
I suppose if all your inputs on the matter come from reading this thread that would be the natural conclusion. SFCFC is drawing about 500 per game. Sure it's a different level, but they aren't setting the world on fire either. That's not great for PDL/NPSL level. Love the kits and crest, though. Word via Evan Ream is USL is looking at a separate group as a possible San Francisco team.
So it seems the USL isn't opposed to idiotic moves as well. Unless that team is in Oakland and marketed as such I think it'll bomb just like the Deltas currently.
I see the San Francisco Chronicle print newspaper sports section today (finally) has the NASL standings and schedule listed under MLS standings and schedule. Somebody must have reminded them that San Francisco actually has at least one professional soccer (football) team.
The Oakland group is likely NISA->NASL. They'll get their sea legs in NISA and make the jump up. Hoping to be able to share more on them in about a month.
His sources have been suspect lately, so take the rumor with a grain of salt. Meanwhile, SFCFC has expressed interest in the USL in the past. No idea where that stands, however. The Chronicle's soccer coverage has always wavered between non-existent and shit.
Would be interesting if SF City made the jump to USL, but I wonder it would remain a supporters own team then cause they would need a huge infusion of cash (investors). The Chronicle has posted every result in the paper for the Deltas which isn't bad. Also know the sports dept. will be doing a feature story on the team that might appear in the next few weeks.
SF Deltas now have two California rivals for 2018. The San Diego newspaper today just confirmed Demba Ba's group as NASL San Diego, to join NASL Orange County in 2018. Formal announcement imminent. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/sd-sp-nasl-san-diego-20170623-story.html
Let's not jump the rivalry gun. Just because they're in California doesn't mean their rivals automatically.
