we really played those last 6-7 minutes extremely poorly. too many aimless long balls leading to instant turnovers and lost time. we had plenty of time to just methodically pass it down against them. too many bad shots with a lot of time and space. frustrating.

We are out. it could have easily been 6-0 but the viet GK made some fantastic saves. We are playing the Philippines in the 5th place match for a WC spot

Shame. So close to qualifying for the semi's. Should have been a handball whistled somewhere around the 75th or so on a Ji So-yun shot, but team clearly ran out of gas in the last 15 mins or so.

5th place playoff should be a cakewalk, but reaching the semi's would have been really nice.

Thailand making the WC lol. North Korea was really unfortunate to be in the same group as us in qualifying

Thailand was in the 2015 Women's World Cup as well and finished 3rd place in their group, beating Ivory Coast.

Put North Korea's plight down to an absolutely stupid and lazy seeding system.

It was a terrible seeding system.

How did China end up in a group with Jordan, Thailand, and the Philippines? It was pretty much an automatic qualification for them.

It was automatic qualification for the five teams that will qualify anyway.

Qualifying was a seeding system, but based on finish in 2014. Since North Korea didn't play, they weren't seeded. Hence, you get the top seed (South Korea) ending up with the 10th ramkra team in the world in their group).

A couple of nice Korea WNT articles - one about the December 2017 qualifiers in Pyongyang, and one about the AFC Asian Cup campaign to qualify for the World Cup in France 2019:

I've rebooted the WK-League thread - so far only with info from 2017's season, but I hope some members from this thread are interested. As the 2018 season goes on, there'll be more videos to post.

First time I watch KNT womens team and this Taiwanese team is so fcking bad. They lose the ball like 10000 times. Granted, the korean team loses the ball only 100 times. Incredibly frustrating to watch.

Semi-final highlights, Asian Games - (from Japanese TV)
South Korea v Japan, 28 August

Dominant display from Korea in the bronze medal match, as might be expected.

But well done to the Chinese Taipei team too, for getting that far - they really punched above their weight. (Beat Vietnam on penalties, and lost only 1-0 to China in the semi-final.)

    Bronze medal Asian Games
South Korea v Chinese Taipei, 31 August

A question as an outsider to Korea: this year we've seen united Korean teams in ice hockey, basketball and canoeing, at the Olympics or Asian Games.

Is there any talk of that happening in football sometime? And are there strong opinions or disagreements about it? It would be a big change for the players involved – much like when there was a combined "Great Britain" team in the 2012 Olympics, it would be practically a new team.

(Note - there was a thread about it back in 2004

president of kfa displayed interest in pursuing the idea. everyone else in the kfa and most devoted followers of the sport oppose the idea. explains his incompetency and general lack of understanding of the fan base
