It must be clear to anyone bar Wenger that our zone marking at set pieces is not working. Look at the corner tonight, without man marking we are not defending our space. It's no good complaining bout Lehman here. We have people with enough height and strength to deal with this, especially since Sol is back.
Completly agree. Having looked at how most of our goals were conceeded, it seems that other teams have worked out how to make longer runs which makes zonal marking so much more difficult. We haven't been able to cope with it. Something does need to be done, this is a very important point.
The Germans particularly in the 70s and 80s were world champs at man to man marking! It leaves hardly any space to the opposition if you know who to go to. George Graham, come back and sort this lot out.
Zonal marking is the best option, but only if you have the players to implement it. Although man marking is obviously better if dealing with set pieces or a particularly dangerous player.
There are three types of marking system: Zonal marking Man-for-man marking No marking All teams in EPL use zonal marking except for Liverfools who uses no marking! Ha!
