    Robinson
    Richards,Rio,Terry,A.cole
    Heargreavs,Lampard
    Beckham J.Cole
    Gerrard
    Rooney,Owen

Gerrard and Lampard Dont have to play the midfield together. Gerrard can play the attacking mid, he scores more than lampard in my point of view. Lampard seems more like a battle winner. Gotta have Becks for set pieces, crosses and the long switches.

Only he does'nt:D Gerrard v Lampard is really not discussed enough here:p:D

Gerrard has less goals in more caps (ok ok 1 less in 2 more caps)

And Lamp the last few years definatly tallied more for Club

    Gerrard:

I saw an interview with one of them, (Ball, IIRC), a few years ago. He said there were 5 world class players in that team, Banks, Moore, Wilson, (interestingly), Charlton and Peters. Unfortunately, it's now assumed we only won it because it was over here but that hasn't seemed to work for most countries including the Germans, Italians and Spanish.

    When Fully Fit :

    Foster

    G Neville - Ferdinand - Terry - Richards

    Hargreaves - Carrick

    SWP - Rooney - Cole

    Owen

Would work good as most players know how to play with each other as they do at club level.

    haha.

Could you have picked a more biased XI?

    5 Manchester United players?

    Richards will retain.

Barry will be preferred to Carrick. Everytime. He's simply far better. Horses v Courses v Hargreaves.

It should be one of either Owen or Rooney. Not both.

Note - I don't read this site much but looking at that team you're probably/I hope taking the piss.

    Richards.........Rio........Terry.......A.Cole
    J.Cole.....Hargreaves.....Gerrard.....Barry
    ..................Rooney......Owen

When does Joe Cole ever play on the right? Barry on the left, surely he's proved that he can't play there?

It's a for more natural posistion for him particularly in a 442. I give him major props for doing so well there but he's not a leftie.
When? He's played there most of his career. MON moved him into the centre because he's Villa's best player not because he's poor on the left.

I think what he mean to write was

    James

    Richards....Rio...Terry.. Cole

    SWP...Barry...Gerrard...Cole/Lennon (undecided)
    Heskey...Owen.

Keep that cry baby rooney on the bench until he grows up and leave that giraff at home!

heskey works great with Owen, so it would be hard to put Rooney in with Owen

Robinson, Richards, Terry, Carragher*, A. Cole, Wright-Phillips, Gerrard, Barry, J. Cole, Rooney, Owen.

*Yes, I know Carragher "retired" but he's a lot better than Rio, Rio was probably England's worst player on the pitch in both the Israel game and the Russia game. If Steve McLaren was actually half comptent he'd pick in form players over big names. Ledley King when he returns from injury and Jonathan Woodgate (if he can ever string consecutive games with out injury) should push Rio for a place in the starting XI.

Opta is a game by game stats based system of every player that has played in the games of each team so if owen has say 20 shots in 2 matches it will no that and record it

also my england team would be.

    -----------------Robinson-----------------

    Richards----Lescott------Terry------Bridge

    SWP-------Lampard------Hargreaves--Cole

    ------------Owen----------Heskey--------

simple as an ameba also notice no rooney i dont think he cuts the grade that much anymore he doesn't work hard enough and isnt greedy as he used to be and thats what i used to like about him he would go for goal in outrageous positions and as he has it in his artilary he would usually score but now he passes to much he would be better suited to france, i mean ARSEnal

Ummmm...I do believe Bayern did quite well with Hargreaves in the destroyer role. Which is why Bayern were able to control Kaka and ManU could not. I also believe that he was purchased by ManU specifically to play that role against the top clubs in Europe. So I'm afraid your logic has escaped me.

Really?? How about this, Barry over Carrick in midfield...I also noted Rio's sloppy defending in the 2nd half of the Eng.-Rus. game.. Go back and read some of your posts, notably the ones regarding Lampard...You're right, I am a Manchester United fan, but I am also a realist on who should play for England, regardless of club loyalties..
