Nikkansports is reporting that 5 players from Yokohama have been taken to the hospital sick with what is probably food poisioning. They say the culprit was some Kimchi Chigae they were eating.

This may affect Yokohama as some of their starters will be out for A3. I think they were just to weak to handle that delicious Korean food. I mean come on I eat Kimchi chigae like twice a week for last 5 years and have never gotten sick.

hehe, that's pretty funny, actually. I wonder if it's really possible to get food-poisoned by eating that; i don't think any causative bacteria can survive in that hot, chilli-spicey environment. More like their tender innards couldn't handle the extreme stimulation ^^

as cheju is noted for its seafood, they probably ate some bad octopus, oysters or fish.

I was wondering about exactly that. Japanese teams are usually very careful about this kind of things. Maybe like everybody else, they are not taking this A3 tourament too seriously.

I don't think Marinos take seriously in this tornament.
Still for a Japanese fun if Marinos is beaten by Chinese or Korean team, I will be some pissed.
But off-course Marinos players beeing sent to hospital is more shocking.
I hope they will recover soon.

Lucky 7 Shenzhen players and coachs were eating Barbeque along with Cha Bum-Kuen maybe that's why they need't to go to Hospital :D

You're lucky Zoran Urumov isn't in the Suwon A3 squad otherwise he would have taken them all out drinking and they'd never be seen again ;)

    Re: Yokohama players posioned?

haha, there has been an update.

A Yokohama official has announced that the players are down with cold, not food-poisoning, and are recovering well.

There was nothing wrong with the kimchi chigae served by the hotel, and in fact the food was initially requested by the Yokohama nutritionist who is also travelling with the squad.

And of course the official has apologised to the hotel manager ;)

The source is http://news.naver.com/sports/new/vi...enu=news&office=mydaily&article_id=0000004072, but it's in Korean, heh. The great mystery of "food-poisoning by kimchi chigae?" was thus solved and the case is now closed

Shuvy mentioned in another thread that 5 players have flu. Kim chi jjige flu, has a nice ring to it.

Oh god, seriously, i hope you're not making excuses for your team? Or I hope this is not your own subtle way of accusing the Koreans of cheating.

Just in case you are or anyone else is, let me say, the Koreans wont resort to poisoning kimchi jigae. I think they're confident enough in beating Yokohama. If that wasn't your intention. I'm sorry. :D

Afterall, Suwon is going to win the tournament just like Korea did last time. BOO YEAH!!!

And it is said that Yokohama officials officially apologized to the manager of the hotel who served the food. I think Yokohama officials should have been more careful before presenting this kind of news to the media. It only runied the reputation of innocent Koreans who did nothing wrong but generous to them.

In additinon, I hope Japanese media carries an updated news just like what Korean media did just for the sake of reputation of the tournament.

    According Japanese source,
Korean Hospital did medical examination and said "acute gastroenteritis".

    So possibilities are
    Korean hospital first misdiagnosised
    Japanese newspaper are wrong
    Marinos is wrong
    Korean newspaper(naver) is wrong
"acute gastroenteritis" was not due to food poisoning.

Tomorrow Japanese newspaper will say some new thing about this matter.

Watanabe is definitely not anti-Korean, and he is one of the better posters here I assure you. So don't be so paranoid with it.
