Unfortunately not because of no Euro passport. But with both Danny Leyva and Joshua Atencio in the first team already, Reed should be looking into heading abroad in 3 years to Germany.
If Baker-Whiting is scared off by two guys in Seattle who have thus far done nothing to establish themselves in the first team, he's really going to poop his pants when he sees the number of prospects & players ahead of him of [insert Bundesliga club here]. A lot can happen in three years.
Jon Bell '97, a defender who got a U20 callup back in the day, signed for Revs II. I think he's a left back these days. https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/po...-sign-defender-jon-bell-usl-league-one-roster
It’s too bad that pretty much a league mandate. MLS could be great preparation for 16-22 year olds with the better ones leaving as soon as eligible (those with Euro passports are a different story) or prove their ready. Put buyouts in contracts so no confusion or hard feelings. Start conveyor belts to replace those who move on.
https://www.uslchampionship.com/news_article/show/1113284 Ansuh Kanneh, an American Liberian boy, signed with Phoenix Rising. It's nice to see Phoenix sign young players, but the previous 5 players that signed, none got minutes with the first team.
I just can't get excited about prospects signing amateur deals with USL sides. I mean, I love they can play with the pros and keep their NCAA eligibility. But would much rather seeing more of these kids getting the type of offers that entice them to give up college soccer entirely and go all-in with a pro career.
12/30 birthday. I always think something like this is important to keep in mind with players of this age.
Diaz scored this goal yesterday. I'm about 50 minutes through the game. I should have a write-up about it tomorrow. Here's that opening goal for @TACdefiance, Alec Diaz squeezes it home at the near post on a good low cross.@SacRepublicFC is back level now, though. #SACvTAC #BeChampions #USLonESPN pic.twitter.com/n21xWRrhs6— Nicholas Murray (@NJEMurray) July 14, 2020
