Yeah I think they've been really bad at planning ahead for years, they overpay for mediocre talent quite often and you probably shouldn't go all in on Carlo when he's basically a short term option at this point and not really a guy who's gonna build and stick with a project. They are missing Mina/James/DCL a lot, and Richarlison looks like he might be somewhat injured after playing only 56 minutes this weekend. I think what's made no James even worse is no Gylfi, he was always the backup for that type of player and now they don't even have Gylfi, the cupboards are barren at Everton and its the boards fault for poor planning.
Looking very sharp for Everton against my bright future Villa. Listening to the comms is hilarious though regarding Benitez. "How many games do you think it will take for the Everton players to recover from the negative tactics of Benitez?" "Well, you listen to Steve Bruce who followed him at Newcastle years ago... And it takes a long time"
Every time this thread is bumped up with a post I think the worst, like another Mina injury. Glad he is doing well. I have a feeling he is going to score for us soon.
Frank Lampard in as new gaffer at Everton. Will be interesting to see how he gets on with Yerry. In addition, they added Donny Van Beek on loan from United and Dele Alli on perm basis from Spurs. While originally speculated as a 30M pound move for Alli, now being reported as a FREE move with a 10M pound incentive triggered if he plays 20 games. They will pay his wages (which are high).
Everton have a lot of good midfielders now, Dele, Donny, Allan, Doucoure all have a lot of ability if they are on form. Losing Digne hurts and they're still thin up front but if they can stay healthy very likely they can get some traction, but I think Lampard is a shit manager tbh.
I have a sensation that van de beek isnt good and was overpaid......ajax have sold their stars around europe and almost nobody have performed regaridng their high price tag
HT. We're ahead in the tie thanks to Yerry's header and a strong first 45 minutes under the new boss. COYB!🔵 1-0 🐝 #EmiratesFACup pic.twitter.com/bNGsTUx5Qi— Everton (@Everton) February 5, 2022
Everton looked fine and played with joy. They are really deep now at the front and middle, lacking maybe on the fullbacks. What a difference a coach makes.
Mina being healthy is such a big swing for them. He is their best defender by a mile. It's sad he is so picked on by the Colombian press and some fans. When he is healthy, Yerry is a massive difference maker. Maybe if we had ANY tactical coaching we could set up smarter on set pieces and take advantage of him as Pekerman did...
We have 4 superb headers, yet Rueda was not able to exploit that in over a dozen games. If my team was struggling to score, that would be the focus of my offense, and I’ll treat any free kick in the attacking half as an opportunity to put the ball in the area.

Like Dunga's Brasil. It's wild that with James and Mina (Falcao, Duvan, et al) our only headed set piece goal I can remember was the one against Peru in Lima under Rueda.
