Wonder how this will impact Trusty's playing time? Sheffield United sack Heckingbottom amid relegation battle https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...ted-sack-heckingbottom-amid-relegation-battle
I actually love Nagbe's game. To my eye, Nagbe is a much more creative passer than either Musah or LDLT. I see him more in the Reyna/Tillman category. I don't know what soured him on national team participation, but I wish he had been a part of the USMNT during the heavy-MLS years. Perhaps he would have spared us hundreds of Lletget backpasses.
I think he's useful farther up and in very small circumstances as a DLP type dmid but against any good team I'd rather have Richards - I think.
Chris Wilder has already been reappointed, which didn’t even give time for the inevitable “Big Sam incoming” memes. So the Fire at least has one thing in common with the Premier League.
Musah is younger, bigger faster Nagbe with worse passing. I don't know if it's poor vs rich as much as Honda Accord vs Toyota Camry.
the Chicago fire thing stunned me. Absolutely floored. Wilder is a predictable fallback for the blades, probably the best they could get too.
What we do know is that at Musah's age he was playing for the Akron Zips. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Just want to rep the Zip nickname. I like the oddball ones having grown up a block from KU (Jayhawks).
I would take him now over other MLS midfielders. He would be extremely useful in CA qualies. Not that we need that this cycle Seriously, what did happen? I remember some excitement when he got his green card. Did we move on from him, or he from us?
Nagbe moved on from NT duty. He preferred being with his family, which is disappointing for USMNT fans but an acceptable reason. Same goes for Hollingshead, for different reasons. if you don't want to represent the US I'd much prefer players make that decision than mail it it, ala Chandler.
It is fascinating that Chandler who covered more distance and had more sprints in only 82 minutes vs Slovenia, who covered more distance and had to cover the entire right flank playing a tilted 4-3-2-1 with Deuce central down in Honduras "mailed it in" while Nagbe who declined callups in 2016 under Klinsmann because he was not starting, came back under Arena and again declined callups under Berhalter was appointed is acceptable? Sports Illustrated writer Grant Wahl reported Tuesday that Nagbe also made the decision to forgo the call-up because he didn't "feel valued" by U.S. National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann. https://www.oregonlive.com/timbers/2016/11/jurgen_klinsmann_says_darlingt.html One can argue how good Chandler was or how sound tactically off ball but he never mailed it in.
Musah is more a Dodge Challenger. Dude’s huge, strong, and explosive. He handles well at high speed. LDLT is a Toyota S2000 and Nagbe is a Subaru Outback.
Better for Nagbe to stay home than be there grudgingly IMO, same with Chandler. Being a member of the USMNT is a major commitment for guys and they should want to be there. Seattle has barely finished in second place the last 2 goals cup years, missing their least replaceable player for 5-6 games.
Some guys can't handle being role or rotation or bench guys. That's always what it seemed like to me with Nagbe. We can see in Klinsmann's comments about the Nagbe situation, that he valued the player. He just had other guys ahead of Darlington on the depth chart. Nagbe seems to be one of the contributors in the failed 2018 cycle that isn't blamed. You know who started in Couva? Darlington Nabe. You know who started the terrible loss at home to Costa Rica? Darlington Nagbe. You know who started the disappointing draw with Honduras? Darlington Nabe. It's not like he wasn't given a shot in important games in that cycle. He started the quarterfinal, semifinal, and final of Gold Cup 2017 too. You know what happened? When the new cycle started after that failed 2018 campaign..................? First camp after that. First caps to McKennie and Adams in central midfield. We turned the page in central midfield. Some of those pages didn't work out (Yueill, Trapp, and company), but we turned the page nonetheless. Bradley held on a little bit but might not have if Adams was able to stay healthy in the summer/fall of 2019.
