One of the best on paper, but will they cope with all the expectations and hype toward them?

The official belgian squad has just been anounced

only Christian Benteke is injured - no other major injuries for players that would have been selected otherwise

    Goalkeepers:

    Thibaut Courtois (Atlético Madrid, SPA)

    Simon Mignolet (Liverpool FC, ENG)

    Koen Casteels (Hoffenheim TSV, GER)

    * Silvio Proto (RSC Anderlecht, BEL) gets selected in case Casteels does not get fit in time, decision is made next week.

    Defenders:

Laurent Ciman (Standard de Liège, BEL)

    Vincent Kompany (Man City, ENG)

Daniel Van Buyten (Bayern München, GER)

    Toby Alderweireld (Atlético Madrid, SPA)

    Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal FC, ENG)

    Nicolas Lombaerts (Zenit, RUS)

    Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham, ENG)

    Anthony Vanden Borre (Anderlecht, BEL)

    Midfielders:

    Moussa Dembélé (Tottenham, ENG)

    Marouane Fellaini (Man United, ENG)

    Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg, GER)

    Nacer Chadli (Tottenham, ENG)

    Axel Witsel (Zenit, RUS)

    Steven Defour (FC Porto, POR).

    Attackers:

    Eden Hazard (Chelsea FC, ENG)

    Romelu Lukaku (Everton FC, ENG)

    Dries Mertens (SSC Napoli, ITA)

    Kevin Mirallas (Everton FC, ENG)

    Adnan Januzaj (Man United, ENG)

    Divock Origi (Lille OSC, FRA).

Standby in case someone gets injured:

    Radja Nainggolan (AS Roma, ITA)

    Sébastien Pocognoli (Hannover 96, GER)

    Thorgan Hazard (Zulte Waregem, BEL)

    Guillaume Gillet (RSC Anderlecht, BEL)

Michy Batshuayi (Standard de Liège, BEL)

Jelle Van Damme (Standard de Liège, BEL).

== starting 11 will be probably this ==

    4-3-3

    courtois

Alderweireld - kompany - van buyten (or lombaerts/vermaelen) - vertongen

witsel - defour (or dembele/fellaini) - de bruyne

    hazard - lukaku - mertens/mirallas

mertens/mirallas will probably be dropped for dembele/chadli/fellaini if the coach wants a bit more defensive setup.

Doesn't bother our manager nor the players on our team that much ... our FA's objective = R16 (or better) ... expectations and hype have mainly been generated outside of Belgium.

I think that Belgium got obviously a very nice squad but am not sure they can cope with the expectations there are about them...wouldn't be surprised they stop against Germany or Portugal round 16 that are much more experienced.

If we make it to the R16 ... have to agree that we'll face a rough path, e.g. Germany or Portugal like you said ... maybe even Argentina if we make it to the QFs.

Not really, I think the cut list pretty much picks itself.

Carvajal, Moreno, Torres, Cazorla, Iturraspe,Navas and then one of T.Alcantara/David Villa depending on how you want to balance the squad.

Hard to believe Falcao gets picked, if he really recovered that quickly from an ACL then he will go down in medical history as a miracle patient, usually this takes 9-10 months to overcome. So either he is rushing back far too quickly and risking long-term damage or something fishy is going on here

As someone who has high hopes for everything Africa...well, I don't know. Donovan was always a force when playing Ghana the last two world cups. Something about him...he just refused to quit.

I think it's a good thing for Ghana!
