Just like someone started a thread for World Cup streaming sources for cord-cutters, I'd like to also ask a question about the broadcast.

    My TV is 3D-capable.

Does anybody know if any provider (such as DirectTV or cable) is planning to deliver WC games in 3D? I know that my provider DISH will not do it, but 10 days away I'd probably still have time to change providers if there is one in my market that will have 3D broadcast of WC games.

Or is the technology completely gone by now? 3D at home never really took off (which I actually think is a pity - I do enjoy it and I have a blu-ray disc with highlights of the WC 2010 in 3D and watching soccer in 3D is awesome).

From what I've read (my sources are in French), the world cup won't be filmed in 3D, the technology required is considered too heavy for a flawless live broadcast.

On the other side, at least "some games" (I don't know which ones) will be broadcasted in UHD, which means 4,000 x 2,000 images.

Thanks. Unfortunately I'm not equipped for UHD.
