Alright, so I just finished watching Law Abiding Citizen and I am amped at 4AM in the morning.

So as of right now, this is my CURRENT personal 23 man Roster for South Africa. Yes I am going to include injured players.

    GoalKeepers
    Eduardo
    Patricio
    Morreira

    Defense
    Duda
    Miguel
    Bosingwa
    Alves
    Pepe
    Carvalho
    Rolando
    Ferreira

    Midfield
    Miguel Veloso
    Deco
    Manuel Fernandes
    Pedro Mendes
    Raul Meireles
    Nani
    Simao
    Ronaldo
    Danny

    Strikers
    Liedson
    Varela
    Nuno Gomes

The formation and personnel I would use for the first game against Ivory Coast, which is subject to change as time progresses.

    Bosingwa -- Carvalho -- Alves -- Veloso
    ----------------- Pepe ---------------
    ------- Simao ---------- Manny -------
    ----------------- Deco ---------------
    --------- Liedson ------- Ronaldo -----

Subs: (In order off the bench)

    Raul Meireles
    Varela
    Danny
    Nani
    Mendes
    Miguel

I included Alves because I think we need someone to battle Drogba. Pepe as the DM, he has been doing a goodjob, and Manny as the replacement for Raul, even though he has saved us, he has had some horrid games.

Varela would be the 1st striker for us off the bench, with Nani replacing Simao and Danny taking Deco's spot. Hell, I might want to start Danny ahead of Deco...

There's no room for Benfica rejects here...

    Take out Moreira.

Your man-crush for Fernandes is showing again btw.

    GoalKeepers
    Eduardo
    Hilario
    Patricio

    Defense
    Goncalo Brandao
    Miguel
    Bosingwa
    Alves
    Pepe
    Carvalho
    Rolando
    Ferreira

    Midfield
    Miguel Veloso
    Deco
    Pedro Mendes
    Raul Meireles
    Nani
    Simao
    Ronaldo
    Danny

    Strikers
    Liedson
    Varela
    Hugo Almeida
    Orlando Sa

The actual call-up list will be similiar, minus Orlando Sa and Brandao and adding in Mouitinho and duda or Coentrao.

I'm happy with these, although I think CQ will insist with Edinho.

Uh... er... uh... We all know he's going to get injured at precisely 3:25 Eastern Standard Time on the 26th day of March of the year of 2010... :D

Overlooked that, mainly since I used Joelzinho's list as a base to work off of. In that case, I'm guessing Mendes will be left at home... I dunno. Too many good midfielders, quite frankly.

Amazed people still think Manny has a chance at being in the WC when he probably won't even get a friendly call up till later on in 2010.

Im watching the Chelsea game...is Bosingwa still hurt or is Ivanovic just better than him? If its the latter having the starting RB not match fit won't be fun.

    i believe the 3 potential new additions that have to be given serious consideration for Africa are;

    Varela
    Coentrao
    Micael

the 3 who may lose spots due to these 3

    Edinho
    Tiago
    Moutinho

    and hopefully Deco .. :)

For the sake of accuracy, I hope you're referring to spontaneous human combustion or something.

How's he going to burst onto the scene? He's already in the scene, cast as an extra who works a shoe shinesman.

Nah hes been out for a prolonged period of time now. His role at Valencia prior to the broken leg was the exact same that CQ has Raul playing for the Seleccao. You think Raul is better then CQ at that position?

I'm hoping Maniche gets back on track and Quaresma plays like his last match on Inter, cause both would be a tremendous plus to the team, on their days both can change a match and we will need that.

    Bosingwa-----Carvalho-----Alves-----Veloso
    -------------Pepe-----Meireles-----------
    ------Ronaldo----Deco------Simao------
    -----------------Liedson-------------------

What concerns me is our Left-Back spot and Deco. Deco is gettin up their in age and it seems he isn't the same player as before. He has those brilliant games every now and then, but whos going to be his replacement in the future?

    * maybe Manny for Mendes/Deco if he shows good form on return.
    * Patricio needs to be given the starters pistol
    * Veloso has to start at left Back
    * Also when Quaresma comes back from injury he should be given the call.
    * Makukula needs to be given a go
    * Sa also needs a run
    * Yazalde also should be given a go
    *Varela needs to be tested

I think the time for testing new players and systems is over. CQ must use the next friendlies to consolidate routines.

So you continue with players who have performed poorly and just hope they begin to perform and also ignore quality players.

Makukula scored another 2 goals today for his team!!! he's doubled his nearest rival in the scoring charts!!!! he shouldn't be given a chance. he's a striker who is portuguese and scoring at will ATM. He's taken his team after this game (because Gala hasn't played yet) to the top of the turkish league! for me thats amazing for such a small club

Pretty much, yes. It's easy to label those in as "poor" and those out as "quality" to make your argument sound better, but the reality is that the final choice has to be made at some point.
