Historic match. Possibly the second most important game in the history of Ecuadorian football. Ecuador is now in the second round of the World Cup, and only needs a draw to win the group and make history once again! Yes, amazing!

    Group A standings:

    Ecuador ----- 6 +5
    Germany ---- 6 +3
    Poland ------ 0
    Costa Rica -- 0

    Possible lineups?

    Mora
De La Cruz, Hurtado, Espinoza, Reasco
    Mendez, E. Tenorio, Castillo, Valencia
    Delgado, C. Tenorio

    Lehmann
    Friedrich, Mertesacker, Metzelder, Lahm
    Schneider, Frings, Ballack, Schweinsteiger
    Klose, Podolski

i was thinking the same thing when urrutia came on. only thing i can think is that very few teams will know who he is and suarez is planning on using him as their secret weapon.

Maybe he'll be used against Germany, or saved for the second round game against England or Sweden.

I think cause Lara is a Offensive midfielder, when Valencia, Mendez and Urritia are mediocampistas mixtos. Tactically makes sense. Also we haven't had a need for his creativity up front yet, but yeah! he'll come handy for the next round with his talent.

I think the players with yellows so far are: Mora, Hurtado, UDLC, Mendez, Castillo and E. Tenorio.

    One each.

the heart and soul of our team basically.

if im LFS, i rest ALL those players without a dought in my mind.

we cannot afford to risk it. no, not at all.

if they do play or atleast play a part of the game, they better stay focused and not get silly yellows or commit hard tackles.

sorry, i don't see Ayovi, Villafuerte, Guagua or Lara starting this important game. I would like to see the same team, and substitutes, maybe throw Lara in there instead of Guagua unless we need him.

    LFS has a toughie.

i think or would hope that our players are disciplined enough to keep there heads cool and not get silly yellows.

however, with all the new BS "fair play" rules, id be nervous.

im telling you, soon, futbol is gonna be lame like the NBA or NFL with all the no pushing or grabbing during corners, no tackles from behind, no pulling, its BS.

imagine those rules in the EPL? we'de have one of the best leagues converted to crap.

I, too, would like to think that the players would be cool-headed enough to avoid yellows, but after watching the USA v. Italy match today...I see that depending on the ref, you can get carded for thinking about fouling an opponent. So many d@mn cards in this World Cup.

I heard LFS is going to make about 6 changes, the only "line" that he isn't going to touch is the keeper :p, but hes making changes in the defense, the midfield, and the forwards....I don't know how you guys see it.....but can it also be counter-effective? I mean, Germany is going to want to come out and go to the next round with a bang, if they can capture the 9 points out of the 3 games that would be spectacular for them.....would a loss demoralize the ecuadorian team? could that affect the "first team" in the next round? ..........

Single bookings from the group stage will not be carried over into the knock-out stage

I'd play the same team, might as well try to win the group.

interesting, thanxs;) i never knew that.....

i guess that changes things. if key players are healthy, id play them for a part of the game and sub in other players accordingly.

someone like c. tenorio who has been fouled hard and espinoza also, id let them rest.

    however, well see this tuesday!

aight so let me get this straight, if hurtado or say mora get a yellow card tomorrow against Germany, they WILL be eligible to play against England/Sweden/T&T??? But if they recieve a red then they are obviously suspended for that match right??

No, no. If any player gets their second yellow tomorrow against Germany, they are OUT for the octavo game against ENG/SWE/TRI.

If however, they have but one yellow during the totality of the group games, then THAT yellow is extinguished.

A yellow to Mora tomorrow, just for example, means that Mora cannot play in the second round.

Ecuador are a shadow of the team that beat Poland and CR. Those 5 subs are taking a toll on the team.

    Bring back the A team.

The Referee is calling everything in favor of Germany...

This looks more like a friendly than a world cup game...

The defense is having a hard time communicating with eachother...

Vamos Ecuador!!! Let's try harder and tie this game up...

Lara would be a good change for Borja... Borja is not doing anything...
and put in Urutia for Ayovi...

WTF is Ecuador doing? Are they even playing?!?!?!

Yes, they are classified, but what kind of attitute is that? Do they really think they can beat England on the next round? I'm not so sure. Playing like this and giving away the first place on the group almost looks like "Well, we made it to the Round of 16, that was our goal... enough." Such a mediocre attitute!!!!
I have no doubt that Ecuador could take over the second team on group B (Sweden or Trinidad).
I am so damn pissed by how they are playing!
