Hi @ManUtd does Ed still want this table booked under 'big name signing' or shall we cancel that one as well?— Pizza Hut UK (@pizzahutuk) August 8, 2019
well for anyone with a modicum of hope for this window (lol) as mentioned before there are free transfers that can be made and the deal sheet. it c an be used to prove a deal was in the process of being agreed prior to the deadline so the deal can be allowed. although i think that had a deadline as well. we may see one or two deals trickle through tomorrow that were late though. i guess there are loans as well. that said i can't think of any great free agents we could use out there other than Dani Alves. maybe i am missing someone?
United's search for a DoF to be resumed - Stone. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49282584 Just might happen one day, if we're lucky...
I'm only gonna say this once and I'm very serious... Don't post another goddamn article about the DOF until it's official. The DOF thread was closed to curb this bullshit. Posting it in other threads isn't the way around that. Just don't.
Open letter?! Psht. All the guys that deserved to be seen for the last time last season got extensions. Smalling, Jones, Mata, Young. Muthafux be playing games.
The interesting thing to note is that the sentiment about United's transfer window is pretty much unanimous, whether it's from fans, United-centric sites or channels or mainstream outlets, such as Skysports, ESPN and the others. While the team is praised for the job they've done on the defensive end, the club and Woodward are getting murdered for their inaction in the past few days, failure to add on the offensive end, especially with Lukaku having been sold. Unless he's completely oblivious, which I don't believe, in regards to the outside world, Woodward must be aware of this. Stone reporting about the club restarting their search for a DoF can not be happenstance. Not that I buy what he has to say at this juncture. But more like it reflects a more brazen attitude from the higher ups, with their constant and obvious tactics to try and distract/appease the fanbase, with one "announcement" after another. We're going on a year now since he first announced that the structure of the club was going to change and a DoF appointed. One year... He's pretty much untouchable, so he probably does not care much what people think about him, but if the season does not go well, Woodward more than ever in his tenure at the head of the club will be a marked man.
Nah, not gonna reply. Not worth it. Just giving him an excuse to puff out his chest behind his keyboard at this point. I'm actually gonna try an experiment. I'm gonna put him on ignore and see if I can still follow the conversation around here. It should be interesting.
Now that we've cleared that up... Things appear to have only changed marginally from last summer in regards to transfers. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/man-utd-news-transfer-window-16716406 Very much looking forward to the Chelsea press conference and Ole's demeanor and reaction. Not that I expect him to make a show or anything, but won't be surprised if there's a hint of frustration.
I think Woodward is coming to realise and will realise even more over time that even given his thick skin and Glazer remit, that he has effed up this one from a purely business standpoint too. I think he went into the window with too big an eye on the revenue dip from us not making CL and probably slashed the original transfer budget. Big mistake from a purely business point of view, as will have the following consequences; - die-hard fan anger is sufficient to be bleeding into casual fan anger - sponsors won't be happy, as have lost Herrera and Lukaku who both featured prominently on the ads and probably shirt sales, don't see DJ/AWB/Slabhead having the same / sufficient marketting appeal to keep sponsors happy - unfollowing Man U on twitter, boycotting the phone app, not buying merchandise, falling MUtv subs, falling shirt-sales etc. will cause some discomfort but more significantly will hurt sponsorship - anything that hurts the business sufficiently will impact the value of the club which in turn means less money for the Glazers From a business point of view, he could have made a minor signing or two which wouldn't have fooled the die-hard fans but would probably have been sufficient to keep the casual fans / sponsors happy. He could have fudged it some and he didn't (which is probably what he will regret). Would expect there will be pressure from him now to have a youngster or two front and centre on the marketting campaign for the new season and possibly pressure on Ole to make sure he plays them regularly. Potentially putting too much pressure on them in the process.
I haven't been around but it works fine. At least, the 2 new posters who have joined in recent times are reasonable.
Good that most fans analysis is being reflected in the media; https://www.foxsports.com.au/footba...s/news-story/90cbe9ed3226e854cedfacbc264b1bbc
More important than all the points mentioned above about merch sale, fan discontent and so on, is that United failing to make the CL possibly for 2 seasons in a row (which is a very real proposition unfortunately) will have all kinds of implications on the club, not least of all financial. Nothing fatal obviously (or anywhere close) but enough that it will be noticeable by the board. And surely 2 seasons without the CL and everything that comes with it, should surely move the Glazers (and therefore Woodward) to action.
