Didnt intent to imply greater than in previous thread, meant we went from the Robbo era to the Keane era followed by the Carrick era.

Damn well dont want this to be the Matic era - so desperately want a new starter #6 out of this window.

Along with FB, LCB, RWF :)

The question was asked recently of which holding mids/6 we should be looking at. Not as many obvious candidates as in other positions, but there are still a few options open to us nonetheless. The names I have come up so far:
Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City), Ruben Neves (Wolverhampton), Declan Rice (West Ham), Amadou Diawara (Napoli), Lucas Tousart (Lyon), Weston McKennie (Schalke 04)
Lots of projects/younger players which speaks to the limited number of options on the market.Partially why I believe we should look to what we have and develop Timmy in the role, even if it would be just as an alternative or squad option to begin with.
Would have liked to include Julien Weigl on that list, who may be available since Witsel dislodged him, but I'm not sure what his game is like these days.

So much depends on the DoF and managerial appointments. I'm tired of waiting. We need to announce a DoF soon so they can start planning for the window.

i'd rather we didn't announce one in a rush rather than pick from underwhelming options just because.

this is just as important an appointment as the next permanent manager. gotta get both right

I'm not saying we need to rush, I'm saying I can't wait. Obviously I did actually say we need to announce soon but that's down to my impatience. I think we shouldn't wait until the end of the season but ultimately we could stand to wait 2 or 3 months and be fine. It is a long term appointment.

Would it be shitty to buy Joao Felix and play him on the right?

    Anyone watched him?

Joao Felix appears to be a very exciting and legitimate prospect. And would have absolutely no problem at all bringing that type of talent in and see what comes of it. However, bringing him in with the goal he will the answer to our right side problem is a massive gamble.
He seems to be a player who is more comfortable in a central role. And that's even before the fact that there are genuine wingers/wide players potentially available on the market right now.

Edit: A lot of top clubs, us included apparently, are currently looking at him. He looks like he's going to be very much in demand.

Another top, top performance from Sancho today. I'd sign him in the summer for 70m, no question. It'd soon be looked at as a bargain.

That kids has bags and bags of potential. So many intangibles to his game that are difficult to coach. A natural player.

Personally, I feel he has the highest ceiling to any attacking 18 year old in the game today. Easily worth 70m or more in this market.

Agreed. I'm looking forward to watching him and Vinicius Jr. develop over the next few years. The sky is the limit, barring any injuries.

Dortmund won't be selling this summer. It would take an almighty offer and for him to push to leave.

He needs to play there for at least one more season and if by that time Sanchez been shipped out then we should go all over him but lets see how he does next season.

One criteria we should consider with all signings even defensive ones is assists and goals.

We have woeful assists / goals output from full-backs (especially), centre-backs (eg at set-pieces), defensive mids etc

The hall-marks from our teams of the past were that everybody contributed in attack with assists and the odd few goals.

We used to be dangerous always at set-pieces, but look insipid and toothless at set-pieces these days. Which probably explains in part why we cant defend them.

Our width is horrible with the full-backs we have too.

If we dont improve these areas gonna loose my s@&t (again) this summer :)

Once we have a bit of stability at CB then we should look to improve Fbs either by coaching or getting new ones.

we don't even score long range screamers anymore.

said it enough about the FBs - scrap them all amd get two class ones in. even if one is low cost like Toljan

I've been preaching about needing better fullbacks and all I hear is that Shaw and Dalot are good enough and we're all set.

I swear Shaw is a ********ing magician because he's tricked everyone into thinking that he's actually good at football.
