FIVE minutes of injury time for our game. Wow. Luton has scored agains, so leads Southend 3-1. Colchester is now a man down and still trails Stoke 1-3.
Ipswich has scored against Leeds. Hull is still winning. This could all but relegate Leeds, who would be 3 points behind Hull with 9-goal inferior goal difference entering the final week.
Wolves 2-0 QPR FULL TIME Elsewhere, the 88th minute Ipswich goal seems to have been the last of the game. Leeds 1-1 Ipswich Town. In injury time, Leeds had one shot wide while Ipswich forced two nice saves by the Leeds keeper, so could have taken all the points. I switched it over to listen to the end of it. The Ipswich Town commentators thought the game had ended, but it turns out that play was stopped because hundreds of Leeds supporters flooded the ground. The players are being called back on the field to play a final 20 seconds or so. Very strange. Leeds could be fined for this. Police and stewards are in action now. The players haven't returned yet. According to the Ipswich commentators, there has to be less than 30 seconds left to play. The players are in the tunnel. Southend were relegated as they lost to Luton.
Afternoon all - looks like we ran out of gas today after a great run. Oh well Can't believe Leeds are actually going down. Amazing
We drop from 18th to 19th as Leicester's defeat of Barnsley moves them ahead of us in the table. I'm still standing by listening to the Ipswich commentary as we await the final few seconds of the Leeds match. From the play-off final last year, to pre-season predictions of promotion, to relegation. Wow!
The commentators think that a whistle for a Leeds corner may have been mistaken as the final whistle as there can be no more than 30 seconds left. The Leeds fans then invaded the pitch. The referee got the players off the pitch very quickly. The pitch has been cleared now, but the players aren't on the pitch yet. Most of the Ipswich supporters have exited. The Leeds supporters are back in their seats. So, the Ipswich commentators think there may be a Leeds corner to come here. There may be as little as 10 seconds on the clock. The commentator said he saw at least one bottle thrown from the Leeds fans on the pitch toward the Ipswich supporters sections. He says there were reports of coins, too, but he said they wouldn't be able to see anything that small.
They'll be relegated to the third tier 6 years (almost to the week) from their Champions League semi-final appearance.
Couldn't be happening to a nicer bunch of savages Just wish that Hull were going down in place of Southend.
Players are back on the pitch. They're about to play the final seconds. Leeds United starts with a corner.
Corner kick... wasn't cleared... Leeds got it in the box, kept possession, lifted it into the box, headed out, Leeds possess, Leeds sends it back in, foul on Leeds. Free kick to Ipswich Town.
Well, I imagine if Cook goes you could grab Eddie Lewis now. I kid, I kid. Actually I wouldn't mind seeing him come back to play for the Rapids.
Birmingham and Sunderland were promoted this afternoon after Derby's loss at Palace. Should be very interesting to see Roy Keane manage in the Premiership next season.
This would have helped Leeds, since they play Derby next week who will now have nothing to play for, but they weren't able to get the home result yesterday. Derby, with 81 points, is locked in a 3rd. 4-5-6 are all up in the air going into the final match. 4 West Brom 45 19 73 - vs. Barnsley 5 Wolverhampton 45 0 73 - at Leicester 6 Southampton 45 21 72 - vs. Southend ------ 7 Stoke 45 21 72 - at QPR 8 Preston 45 10 71 - vs. Birmingham 9 Colchester 45 16 69 - vs. Crystal Palace Wow... Stoke is even with Southampton on points and goal difference, so the difference in making the playoffs or not right now is goals scored. Stoke trails Southampton by 12 in goals scored, so they will be looking to run up a big win against QPR next week, becuase if they can get a better goal difference against us than Southampton can against Southend, they'd pass them in the standings.
Looking ahead to the Stoke match this weekend... should be a good atmosphere at HQ http://www.stoke.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=63373
Yeah... could be trouble for the R's. They really need it and we don't at all. All they have to do to make the playoffs is beat us by one more goal than Southampton beats Southend -- that's some serious motivation.
