As the whining in the Mead household continues unabated (mostly because Andy forgot to feed to cats), I thought I would remind eveyone our reasons to be thankful this holiday season.

So without farathur adu, here are our reasons to be thankful:

Metroscum: For generally pissing all over them and their continued aspirations for mediocrity.
New England: I'm sure they have some reason to hate us, but I don't know what it is. Insert a John Kerry joke here.
Columbus: For basically ending their season during the late 90s.
Chicago: Actually, we should hate them.
KC: Bo don't know diddly. Esky, on the other hand, knows how to execute a chest trap under pressure.
LA: 1996, 1999, in case you don't remember, I'll tell you one more time.
    Colorado: 1997, our sacrifical lamb.
    Dallas: Dema, nuff said.
San Jose: Basically because we get fans to the stadium when we have Soccer Jesus on our team.

    Enjoy thanksgiving and be safe.

I can only surmise that this thread was created for the sole purpose of making me angry.

For having rookies who know how to take PKs.

They hate us because our ex-assistant has done a lousy job for them, while their ex-captain just won us a Cup.

Do people even hate you guys anymore? I don't think they do.

Your years of sucking have wiped the slate clean.

Chivas For not getting the hints about Rongen.

ReAL For stealing a "traditional" soccer name without looking idiotic.

Lest anyone forget, the Revoltin' should hate us since we've won more in their stadium than they ever have or will.

Not to mention their name is great fodder for temporary banners. :D

I'm thankful for the CSC taking a backseat to the MPD and seeing how it's done.

For our new stadium in the Meadowlands. (it's a little far to drive but always plenty of good seats)

For finding out that wrapping bacon around your hotdog is a good thing.

And for winning the "What time is the keg gonna run out?" extravaganza.

    Happy Turkey Day everybody :)

    Me 2!

    I'm also thankful for:

-No more overtime (thinking of end of 2003 season Scum/Howard fiasco)

-The NE Revo-lose-shun winning when it counts (to give us a great final home match this year)

    -Max Bretos (to laugh at)

Well, to an ant, a kitchen chair looks ENORMOUS. I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

Brilliant response! Of course, as a Chicago fan, you had the whole post-season to think of something. :D

I'm thankful for the gift of comedy that was this year's MetroStars. God, that was just so damn nice. This could be the best title of them all because truly we hand dug the grave and layed to rest the mutts on the way to this trophy. In fact, I think the '04 Star* should have its own asterick.

I think that's the real reason we put the star inside the logo when it was redesgined. It wasn't because of the inaugural win, as they said, but because we beat the PATHStars on the way to the trophy!

I appreciated that they took a team with a lot of talent and pissed it away.

But nothing will ever approach the comedy of the '99 Metros for me. I'll never forget going up there for a Thursday night game with 3 others in Matt Mathai's car, meeting up with 2 other DC fans at the game, and realizing that the 6 of us showing up basically doubled the attendance in the place. We won 4-1, as I recall. Even AJ scored, I think.

I'm thankful that we will only see that cheating hacker, Rusty Pierce, in our house once this coming season.

And Darth Northeño, how many do you think know the function of your avatar?

I'm thankful for Steven Goff, because every morning when I open the Post and find a soccer article, I feel like it's Christmas (and read it twice)

For all the players living through and getting stronger through Nowak's hellish sprints/runs so they could still be standing after beating the Revs

Thankful that we had the years we did with Ryan Nelsen, and that he clocked Mike Magee while he was here

And while I'm being a hippie, I'm just damn glad that we have a decent soccer league here in the States

Speaking of hippie...Happy Tofu Day everybody!

    ;)
