Not good enough yet, it is a second round team at best. I have seen them play several games.

Did your psychic abilities predict Uruguay making it to the Semis in 2010? Cause this Colombian team has more talent and better coaching than that squad.
Not to say I think this team is a lock for the quarters but I think their chances are as good as any team in this tournament.

Uruguay can make the semis of any Worldcup if they have their stars align.

Colombia is no Uruguay my friend. I have seen this Colombia team play at home and away. They got a good draw and they should go to the next round. I wish them the best.

    Contenders... no way in hell!!!

Well, time will tell Mr star alignment fortune teller.
I think the stats speak for themselves though. Since the hiring of Pekerman Colombia has been the best team in South America in the most competitive Qualification zone in the World.

    Can they choke? Possibly.
But as I said, they have as good a chance as any team to make a deep run due to their talent, tactics and where the tournament is being held.

Stats don't matter much. How many full games have you watch them play? I dont want to sound like I'm wishing them bad luck. They are overrated, every worldcup there are teams like that that look like they are going to do something and they rarely do.

Good, so you saw them destrooooyy Ecuador in Barranquilla and also destroooy Chile. You also say them give a masterclass to Uruguay in Centenario. Is that he Colombia team you are talking about that you consider a contender for the Worldcup?

dude please don't make me argue against a good team. but there is a huge leap from being a good team to being a contender for the worldcup. you must be realistic.

Colombia was missing many key players over those stretch of matches. They also played a bit more conservative due to those injuries and just plain not wanting to goof things up (fear of failure can change team dynamics).

All in all they found a way to get the job done, finish second in the Table and earned a seed.
This team has more talent and better coaching than Uruguay that went to the Semis. This team also has more talent and better coaching than Paraguay who made it to the quarter-finals in South Africa.

If you think they will choke that is all fine and dandy.
We are all entitled to our opinions. Just make educated opinions based on the grand scheme of things not isolated games in which you viewed.

I don't think they will choke... I think they will do well and go home to a better team in the round of 16 or better. Contenders No way.

Well there is a chance they could face Uruguay in the round of 16. I don't think los Uruguayos are better.

There is a chance they can play Italy or England too. I think those teams are about even.

We shall see. That is what is great about the World Cup. You have to play better on the field ...
...not in internet threads or in the stars as you pointed out.

In a world cup environment. if this Colombia Team plays 10 games against the Uruguay of 2010, they will loose more games than win.

I don't think so. Pekerman is such a great tactician. He will have them prepared.

Pekerman is a world class tactician in an event where the majority of the coaches are world class tacticians.

Colombia's class, and Pekerman's impact will not be seen in this world cup, but rather on how they react when they go back home and what they do in 2018 and 2022. Is Colombia going back to the struggles of the past or they will embrace this opportunity and claim their legitimate place between the bests?

Christ! All this bickering just because a poster ranked Colombia 10th?? It's not exactly outlandish to rank Colombia as the 10th-best team in this World Cup. :cautious:

There are other factors that go into it.
He has a deeper talent pool than most of the others in this tournament. If you look up the collective player worth in euros of each roster Colombia's is within the top 6 if I recall.
This is also a South American World Cup. That has to be accounted for.

The issue is whether or not Colombia is a contender. I am bringing up facts and issues to analyze. You bring up the stars and isolated games you watch out of context.

Based on that I could say Italy is not a contender since they tied Armenia at home in their last WCQ.
