It's all but official, unless they sign a deal midyear. Nope. And according to many people who are smarter and know the game of soccer better than me (and a few others), we don't need no stinking sponsor. Haven't you heard how rich our owners already are?
Chris, I know the financial health of the team is your concern, do you think one year without a high-six figure logo printing really makes that much of a difference? Are you concerned we will never be able to find a shirt sponsor and will be forced to only sign USL level players because of it? What's keeping you up at night?
Surprisingly, the Acura Logo is still up on the South facade of the Scoreboard. Saw it today as I was going to the Home and Garden Show.
That's a bummer to hear; the 3 Austin Broccoli fans (and possibly Two Chins himself) will use this as a feather to prove C-Bus is a bad spot to have a team.
Being that they, too, have no jersey sponsor for 2020, I somehow think we'll survive. ******** Austin.
I mean, I'm not so naive as to think that one year without a sponsor will make or break the franchise. But I think that the franchise needs all of the financial and PR wins it can get. But one year? See the eyeroll above. As for what keeps me up at night: I sleep soundly damn near every night and on the nights I don't: Pepcid AC.

More often then not, my reaction tends to be: Some of us have meetings on our schedules today. Good to hear that something significant is happening.
Read the announcement again Negative Nancy. It says following the business partnership announcement there will be a formal press confernce with Bez, Porter & Onstad. So like it's very possible that Lyons will part of the 1st announcement and then the other group will be available to talk about the upcoming season and such.
We need to temper our anticipation on this announcement. I have not spoken to any Applebees staff, so I don’t have any insider info. But I’d rather expect this to be something not related to 2020 and be surprised. if I had to guess, they are announcing new stadium sponsor and maybe 2021 kit sponsor. would love for that to include 2020 sponsor but all public indications are that’s not happening for us this year.
I expect this will be a significant announcement. In my experience people only use words to reflect their true meanings. Nobody ever claims significance when it’s irrelevant. So get on the hype train and be prepared for anything of significance. Edit: A significant amount of sarcasm was used with this post.
I thought about that, and it's a very real possibility. But judging by history, this doesn't have enough name recognition, or stand-alone power, to be a presenting sponsor. A presenting sponsor, historically, features a representative of the ownership group as well as the business leaders of the franchise. It's also historically been a stand alone event, not something tagged onto media day. I hope I'm wrong, but this feels like a mid-level sponsorship announcement. Or a presenting sponsor for the new training facility.
Again, we don't know that those people won't be in attendance. Furthermore, the first game is this Sunday and they had already scheduled to have the media together for the annual pre-season press conference. If they just struck a deal last minute, this would be the time to announce it rather than calling a separate press conference tomorrow.
