So, with the probable exit of Antheunis, who should coach our NT?

There are several candidates, but with most of them for every pro, I can think of several cons. Your thoughts?

I voted for Eric Gerets.I'd love to see him as THE coach our national team is waiting for so long (since probalby Guy Thijs IMO).The problem is that he isn't free (unless he is fired by Galatasaray but the team is on top of the league so...) and is probably too expensive regarding the federation means. So it won't be him.
I think Vandereycken will be the next coach: he is free, has experience as coach in Belgium and abroad, as well as player in Belgium, abroad and with the NT.I don't really like him as he is not communicating with journalists in general and is not proposing a very attractive football (but as long as its efficient...).I hope our golden years are still to come !!

I think that Morten Olsen should do it.

He is neither "wallon" neither "vlaams" and he knows the belgian football very good.

I think it they should pick me.
I know belgian football, I speak both languages,
I know how to communicate with the press (just don't)
and I don't want to have anything to do with the whole flemish-walloon thing

I heard Bora Milutinovic is available also.

Seriously, I don't really know; Belgian coaches currently suck big time. The League is boring and the top clubs are just being nuked in CL.

The guy who will lead Belgium by now will have to start from scratch as Antheunis set the bar very very low.

Just hope something; AA should be blamed for this and being unable to coach again. I want him starving onto the street.

Wait, first you say that the league is boring and we are getting nuked in the CL, and then it's all AA's fault? AA did what he could with the players he had to choose from. I will still have to see who ever succeeds him doing a better job.

I don't think we can afford him, since some people already are suggesting we can't even afford Morten Olsen. I can't imagine Hiddink being cheaper than Olsen.

EVERY single coach since 1974 did better with the b nats than Antheunis.

His Anderlecht obedience costed the World Cup. Who could be so stupid to align Deschacht as a left back.

The only reason he's not been fired 6 months before was his consultancy job position for the bigger flemmish newspaper.

Every Belgian coach since 1974 also had a bigger and better talent pool to choose from. As much as I dislike Deschacht (and believe me, I dislike him a lot), it's not like Aimé had an abundance of great left backs.

Like I said, I don't expect miracles from the next NT coach. He is not going to do substantially better than Antheunis untill some new talent comes through. This generation is just lacking in a lot of departments. But the most troubling thing is that we still don't have a true natural leader in there, over three years after Wilmots retirement.

I voted Gerets, but if we could afford any of these guys we should take Guus Hiddink or Co Adriaanse.

And now that I think of it: Jacky Matthijsen would do great.

EC 2008 is a rebuilding process. Get rid of all the old players Moons, Van Buyten, the Mpenzas, Goor, Doll, Simons ansd start again from scratch, working on youth, formatuions and a suitbale manager. Robert Wasiege springs to mind., You are seeded 4th, try to get 3rd, as you wouldn't be ready for a major tournament f you got rid of all the old players.
