You forgot Futre (remember him??), Capucho, Sa Pinto...

I can think of only another european team who has consistently brought up such a number of key players: Ajax.

Could be and I wouldn't be surprised if that's why. It's the first time any foriegn club has taken any interest in youth soccer in America.

besides that AJAX are smart enough about young soccer players to know that the US is producing a huge number of great prospects... and not just the one

I would have to say River Plate with Ajax a close second. The reason I give River the nod is because they've been doing it since anyone can remember. They have unbelievable scouts and a fantastic youth program.

    Hernán Crespo
    Ortega
Batistuta (Before he hit it big at Boca)
    Alfredo Di Stéfano
    Saviola
    Aimar
    Juan Pablo Angel
    Santiago Solari
    Andrés D'Alessandro
    Claudio Caniggia
    Daniel Passarella
    Marcelo Salas
    Matías Almeyda
    Enzo Francescoli
    Marcelo Gallardo
    Esteban Cambiasso
    Sergio Goycochea
    Germá Burgos
    Juan Pablo Sorín
    Diego Placente
    Fernando Cavenaghi
    Luis González
    Martín Demichelis

Some of these players may not have started out at River Plate but they made their names there. It's a tribute to great personnel and scouting. This doesn't even mention the early years when the Red Machine was playing. Named after an unbelievable midfield in 1930 or 40.

you're listing former or active River players, Francescoli is uruguayan and is not a gayina product, the same with chilean Salas, Mono Burgos is a Ferro product.

Che matador, Redondo is an Argentinos Juniors product (the same that brought Riquelme and Maradona)

Excape Goat, Kempes is a Ferro porduct too, he eventually moved to River.

I know that not all the players are from Argentina but my point is they become famous there. A tribute to scouting talent and getting the most out of players. Even if you want to disclude them, the list still is impressive.

Not to anyones suprise but I agree with Pibe de River Plate. Che que equipo Pibe!

Outside River and Ajax I'm not sure who would round out the top five.

why do people keep pimpin' their club and listing a bunch of players that weren't PRODUCED by the club? this isn't the 'get famous' thread...

Just to make their point. I think Pibe de River Plate took it for meaning great players developed there. Not just players from that same particular country.

Ajax has produced so many great players, it's ridiculous!! Along with them, Sporting Lisbon has a great youth academy...now that they have an agreement with Man. United watch for some youth swapping....both teams will get better, more so Man U, who will be able to pay them more

    my vote: AJAX/SPORTING

Well, if we're going back that far ya got Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters. The captain and the goalscorers for the 1966 WC Final.
