I know everyone has there thoughts on the Pumas loss do you really think it was the coaches or even some of the players fault..Hey or everyone whipping boy Stokes...I recall on the Soccer Show with Kevin Payne about MLS not giving us an allocation with the loss of Nelson..With the extreme importance of this tournament i hope MLS makes sure in the future that when teams like us and KC and who ever is in it next year makes sure these teams are ready and properly tooled to go in and perform well in tornaments like these in the future..
There is not one single reason for blame in this game. Everybody had a role in this from the league office all the way down to the players and injuries/illness. Of course, the real blame was the sun in my eyes, the hole in my glove, my alarm clock never went off, and I just forgot about it. What were we talking about?
My last post on this game and then I'm going to bury this turkey forever... I actually watched the tape of this game again last night (I'm masochistic like that) and you know what? We played 45 minutes of crap, fatigued soccer. We were still in it at halftime. Pumas sucked in the first half. They were nothing great or special. The final score DOES NOT truly reflect the disparity in these two teams. I think the game at RFK does. Time to move on....
Can't win'em all. Over the course of two games Pumas was better than us. Man. I know on BigSoccer people tend to wig out at the slightest occurrence, but this is out of control. We lost to a good team from Mexico. It happens, and will happen again. We're going to lose a game to a crap MLS team this year, too. I can assure you. I can only imagine the hair-pulling and torment that'll occur then. ManU lost to Norwich this past weekend. I'm surprised there wasn't a mass suicide in Manchester. This is soccer!! Don't over-analyze. Let's move on and beat the Crew tonight.
Perhaps another game within 48 hours of the last debacle is the best thing. I'm moving on.........................
ah, that's why Esky hit the post, he was thinking in yards, not meters Silly UVA boy, they don't cover the metric system there (at least in the student athlete classes)
Weren't 3 of the 5 goals scored after Petke got sent off as well? It looked like DCs effort really dropped after getting reduced to 10 men, realizing they had no chance to get back in the tie.
"should we blame society... or the images on TV... HECK NO! BLAME CANADA!" or another classic "Blame it on the rain."
Actually, if he was thinking in yards instead of meters, shouldn't his shot have been 3.37 inches inside the post?
I blame our public educational system. I agree with the post that say "why do we need to blame someone". We plady poorly in the second half, we lost. We have a long season ahead. We're defending MLS champsions. Let's look forward to another title and Open Cup.
