I not sure if I am remembering the details properly. Was it Kitty O'Shea's in Arlington? I called them and they are showing the game at 10 a.m. I've got the address as Kitty O'Shea's Irish Sports Bar. 2403 Wilson Boulevard. Arlington (703) 522-5295. Here's their website with directions: http://www.kittyosheasva.com/directions/
As pointed out by MetroAnt on the other thread, the Fox Soccer Channel listing now shows Ipswich v. Portsmouth, rather than our game, at 10 a.m. http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/fsctv/soccermatches
I called again and they insist that they are showing the QPR Chelscum game. Does someone else want to call them and see if you get the same result: (703) 522-5295
I guess the question is... do they think they are showing it from Fox Soccer Channel or some other way? If they think they're showing it from FSC, FSC's schedule doesn't agree with them. If they are getting it some other way, that's great and I'll be there.
Are you sure that Fox aren't showing the QPR Chelscum game? The page I checked have them showing the QPR game at 10 am and the Ipswich game at noon -- http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/6360600 Where did you see that it was different?
I just checked with Flannagans in Bethesda and Summers (just to see if Kitty's were off their heads) and they both say they are showing the QPR Chelscum game at 10 a.m. I'm still up for meeting up. Anyone else up for it?
I just called Kitty's and she said we're on their schedule, but she also said that as far as she knew, they'd show what was on FSC. She said the owner would be back in about an hour, so I may call then to see if he knows he will be able to show it, or if he's just working off of the FSC schedule that was up a couple of days ago, as we all were.
For Dylan (and all) - don't believe the bar people, they must not have the latest info. FSC definitely switched their schedule and we're not on Reliable sources (FSC, soccertv.com) confirm this. Only Setanta could show the match other than FSC, and they are showing Man U. Don't want you guys to head to bars tomorrow and miss out on listening. It's our only option now. I'll try to contact FSC and find out what happened. Guessing that the FA are the culprits, as they decide which matches get beamed over.
We play so few FA Cup games, I forgot whether World covers it! I believe we last advanced in the FA Cup with a win over Luton in 00/01 (and even that was in a replay, if memory serves) before going out to Arsenal in the 4th round, 0-6... a game I had the 'pleasure' of seeing in person. As I mentioned in another thread, I met Stan Bowles that evening, so it wasn't a total loss.
Of note, in my email, I specifically said "We're trying to get together a group of QPR supporters to watch the broadcast at a local pub, but it appears you may not be showing it, as originally indicated." The good -- They responded. The bad -- we won't get the game. The ugly -- I specifically noted my interest in QPR and they said they hope to be able "to cover more Chelsea and other big clubs in upcoming rounds." Dear FSC, I hope Chelsea won't be playing in the coming rounds!!
Ha! Well as I kinda thought, this is a cock-up on the other side with the broadcast and transmission. FSC did not intentionally drop us (or Chelsea), although I'm not sure why they didn't have that information before leading us on. Oh well, I just hope for a fighting chance today and to hear some of the atmosphere via the audio. Preview will start on BBC London at 9am ET - think they'll be live from Stamford Bridge (I like Tom Watt's show). Can listen in until the match begins there, then switch to World for the commentary. http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/content/articles/2005/05/31/saturday_sportshow_feature.shtml UUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRss!
Don't feel too aggrieved. I can't watch it either. BBC are predictably showing Villa v Man Utd - though that's a 5 o'clock job. Checked online and even the dodgy Chinese stations aren't showing it. Deciding instead to show the mouth-watering prospect of Bristol City v Middlesbrough and Ipswich v Portsmouth. I'd have thought Chelsea might have been covered by someone.
