Well, if the press release is accurate / things don't change: 8/20. https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/post...tinue-mls-announces-plans-return-home-markets
"Limited fans where allowed". One positive, we wont have to listen to Lalas or Twellman wax poetic about how many fans ATL have. Wonder if another Dutch coach will be fired this season?
Maybe, maybe not. We'll see. In the meantime, I was told by a woman who lives in my home that under no circumstances was I going to be going to games this year. I'm so thankful she told me this because I was under the mistaken impression that I fully intended to go if the opportunity came. Glad that got cleared up.
I was given a similar message this morning: "We'll see." I think we all know what that actually means.
When my brain has time to work, lately I have been reflecting on Aristotle’s writings on the virtue of courage.
Being a perpetually single guy, the notion that your wife has that much say over your actions just blows my mind.
In my case, it's because my wife has better common sense than me, most of the time. But it's mutual--and based on mutual respect and love. I hope you'll permit a brief digression here and allow me to mention my faith perspective. The Bible quote that always gets thrown around is "wives submit to your husband". But it's taken woefully out of context--and usually by guys trying to justify themselves. The previous sentence says--"Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." That's the thing that makes us a team and stronger together than apart. Mind you, we're far from perfect and have a long way to go. But it's worked for us.
Crew’s return to MAPFRE proposal may include limited fans New: #Crew96 return to Mapfre Stadium plan under review by the state and city health departments proposes more than 25% capacity.CBO Steve Lyons explained the club isn’t committed to allowing fans or tailgating.More on the plan, comments from experts https://t.co/EwE4FGeX1Q— Jacob Myers (@_jcmyers) August 9, 2020
I look around the stadium and I see a lot of experience team members in poor/questionable health. Why would a company put their employees at risk? Maybe it's different somehow because they're part-time and you're not paying them insurance, but the moral and ethical obligations still certainly exist.
Per Steve Lyons in the article he says even if they get approval that doesn't mean they will allow fans/tailgating. But if they get approval I'd be surprised if they held off.
Meanwhile, it appears the Big Ten is on the edge of shutting everything down. And how do they expect fans not to tailgate? Not open the lots until 90 minutes before kickoff? Then again, they weren't around in 2001 when everyone tailgated in the Days Inn parking lot. If everything was unified back in May or June, we wouldn't be here in August. But, because everything is "you do this and we do that," here we are. Baseball players were told not to go out in public, not to give high-fives and just today, there was a big brawl with both teams involved.
