I sure hope July is the worst case scenario but until non essential business start back up it don’t look good
I agree. That appears to be plan in Germany and a few other countries. Maybe by July if things appear under control and manageable we can actually go to a game.
I doubt MLS will play in empty stadia. My guess is matches open to the public resume in late June after a couple weeks of training.
Yes, I think it will be clear by end of April that the apex has passed. Another 4 weeks to let things settle down further. At that point restaurants and theaters reopen and teams start training again, with games in the last 10 days or so of June. YMMV.
I could see them being leery of giving the go-ahead to events where 20k people will be together. I hope I'm wrong.
Things will reopen eventually. The standard can't be that we stay closed until a vaccine is available in large quantities or that we don't open up large public spaces as long as here is any risk that anyone might catch covid. The whole point of the shutdown orders was to keep caseloads below the max capacity of the healthcare system. We haven't come close to maxing out the capacity thus far and won't, even if there is an uptick when things reopen. By 9 or 10 weeks from now, we'll have a lot more medicine, PPE, vents, etc.
I dont know how they will do it, but I know that spectator sports are not essential so we should not be clamoring to get back into Mapfre Stadium asap. Maybe resume training after Memorial Day. Start playing games mid June in empty stadiums. If things are looking a lot better...maybe open games back up to the fans for July 4th weekend if feasible.
The problem is fifa has last years schedule so if you guys produce line ups i can simulate single games . I quit doing because it was impossible to guess the line up of both teams
Be creative. Look at opponents’ rosters, players, and positions and give it your best guess. We’re all going to jump all over you and give you crap anyway, right?[emoji12]
Just saw this. Dong Arber discusses some of the ideas they've floated for resuming. https://www.espn.com/soccer/major-l...nt-formatneutral-site-games-if-season-returns
If MLS decides to restart play this summer, I'd not bet $1 that they'll finish the season. There will be following waves of this outbreak, hitting different cities and states at different times. How you could conduct a consistent, month's long season, albeit a truncated one, under such circumstances is beyond me. Maybe if they're willing to play closed door matches. Maybe.
