When did Michael Bradley go from one of our key players to "damn wish he retired from the NT"?

its too bad people care too much about their bigsoccer rep and sway to the dark side of the USMNT on occasions.

I watched Bradley play in the Coppa Italia final 2014(?). Roma against Lazio, the first time in history that the Rome derby was also a title game. The Stadio Olimpico was packed with 75,000 rabid fans. I was part of the human wall of the Curva Sud, the Roma section. While Roma lost 1-0, and the crowd was as full of scorn for their team as only a Roman crowd can be, it was thumbs down for everyone but Bradley. They cheered every time he dominated the midfield and he was clearly Roma's best player that night. He went hard into every tackle and swept up every loose ball. He was not the most polished player on the field, but he was a top level destroyer at that time in Italy.
What happened to that player? Injuries? Too much money? He just got lazy?
