No excuse. You should have been supporting United when you were a wee centelleo in your parent's eyes. There, fixed.
I would pick Manchester City. Why? Because fans of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and especially Manchester United, are spoiled. I always hate it when one of the smaller clubs lucks into a great player, and all these spoiled brats can do is talk about how soon that guy will be playing for them. No respect is ever given for fans of smaller clubs. Yet, money rules the EPL, not strategy or inspiration. So as long as it's purely about money, I'd choose the latest club that hasn't won in a while, but now has a shot in hell of doing so. Manchester City hasn't won a championship since the Beatles broke up, and so their fans would be especially giddy if they won another one. That's reason enough to pick them. I have a friend in England who is a long-time Man City supporter, and part of me would vicariously enjoy seeing them win just for him. A couple years ago I would tell you to root for Chelsea for the same reason. But now they're in the spoilt category. You can't really root for anyone else, unless they're bought by rich oil men.
Its getting that way. Lets all support the team with the most money. Actually why dont we all forget football and support stock market investors?
Oi! Nah, you're right, we're spoilt. Well I like to think I'm not. I waited for 16 years for them to win their first league title (in my lifetime), so I'm aware that dominance can always slip away. But there's no joy in just picking Man Utd now unless you have a strong reason for following that club. I think most 'plastics' are screwing themselves out of the true beauty of supporting any team. If you pick a side that's already expected to win every year, you'll probably get little to no euphoria when it happens and just get disappointed when you finish second. When you follow a team through thick-and-thin, you truly appreciate the good times. Trust me, when Charlton win something you'll go nuts.
Manchester United. They won the premiership and champions last year. they have all the good people, like CRISTIANO RONALDO< TEVEZ< ROONEY< HARGREAVES< Etc. http://cr7legend.blogspot.com/
Here in America, though, your 'local club' may be as many as 100 miles away. That's my weak excuse for being a glory hunter.
Do you have to support a team in the MLS though? surely you will have a local club nearby that is not MLS.
