Actually, I do not think of them as galacticos either. Owen was hyped up to be one in UK and in Asia, but he is no more than Morientes.

There's a rumor in the Dutch media, that a delegation of Madrid was watching van Bommel in his CL qualification match last night. Not sure how true this would be, seeing as he is cup tied to that team, and it sort of would go against what Florentino said in a recent interview with Marca:

He's getting his form back, and he might have been a good buy if he wasn't cup tied, although there's no guarantee he would do as well at Madrid which is on a tad higher level than PSV. The president of PSV was also saying there was another club in the mix for him instead of Dortmund, so that might help those rumors, even though he never said it was Madrid.

He would need to be (and probably is) much cheaper, to avoid my rage at getting him instead of Xabi.
