So for the next month I can see as many movies as I want in theaters for $1. Couldn't pass that up. What's coming out i haven't seen?
The first Dune is one of my all time favorite books. Reviewers said you should see the latest version of the movie on the wide screen, so last week I went to the 3:30 show at one of those megaplexes, with a multitude of screens. While there were a few others around watching other films, I was, in my theatre, literally the only person there. Dune is so complicated, with so many story lines, you could make a number of movies out of it. That is part of the problem. Without reading the book, the movie ending doesn't seem like an end (as it isn't!). People have said they always intended to make more that one movie out of it, but originally it was not green lighted for more. I guess my point is if you haven't read the book, be patient with the end. Special effects are great, and Timothy Chalamet is quite good as Paul.
The books are excellent but for a bit of a slog in the middle few, and I haven't read the ones Sanderson wrote yet, but they're supposed to be good. Currently on book 11 (Jordan's last) on my pre-show re-read. Meanwhile rewatching Orphan Black, probably followed by S3 of Hannah to tide me over...
The Proudfoots! I just read the party scene to my daughter tonight. We finished the Hobbit last week and she liked it so much we jumped right into the LOTR. She's 5 and understands the story well, but we do have frequent stops about word meaning and 1940s English slang.
I'm probably gonna see Spiderman tommorow. Yay work 40 hours a week for the privilege of sitting down for a few hours to watch a fake superhero save a better version of a real city.
Anybody know where the new Madden doc is? I know it's Fox, but I have no clue what their streaming platform is anymore.
Fox’s John Madden documentary, ‘All Madden,’ will be available on streaming Jan. 3 http://amp.awfulannouncing.com/nfl/...ary-all-madden-available-streaming-jan-3.html
