So who are the leading candidates to take this job over? 4-0 beating by Dayton...at home...is that the worst loss at home ever for the program?
Tim Ream would be one, obviously, but you'll have to wait. Try to keep the program afloat until he returns ...
I used to think SLU could blame being in a crappy conference. But, five A-10 teams (VCU, UMass, Rhodie, GW and Fordham) are in the top 50 of the RPI, all with winning records, and two more - Dayton and Davidson - are in the top 100 with winning records. And none of them have the history of a program like SLU. These other schools are somehow more competitive despite being in the A10 so clearly it can be done.
STL vs Stanford crowd was big but only not quite as big as last year's homecoming. Box score had it at about 3400 vs. over 5000. Was weather a factor or was it poorly marketed? According to the Billikens own message board armchair fans, the season is now off the rails even though STL is in a "win and in" position as far as postseason is concerned. These "fans" have already written them off at 2-3-1 with two critical conference matches left on the sheet. I give McGinty a lot of credit. He wins and loses in spite of this lackadaisical and mostly uninspired fanbase. Here's hoping STL either splits or wins both, then goes into the A10 tourney with a little bit of momo.

WHAT???! FIRE HIM! he stinks! ...you need to win games to get support. Worst ever A10 record. Just get this ignorant jerk out of the program. Locals don't like him, alumni can't stand him, calling for Chris May to step up!
FINALLY HE'S GONE!..... let the search begin. http://www.slubillikens.com/ViewArt...48.1644059377.1510334428-666068156.1503706069
https://www.slu.edu/news/social/somalia-to-slu.php I was just searching for an update on the coaching search, and happened to come across this article about Saadiq Mohammed. I don't follow SLU soccer much, so I don't have an opinion about McGinty's coaching ability, but the fact that he helped this kid who risked his life to play soccer in Somalia is pretty awesome in my book. It also makes me wonder about his financial aid package. If most players don't get full athletic scholarships, they must have been able to figure something out for him, but he may be a special case. Also found this on youtube. There's a golazo at the end. Not sure what his prospects for pro soccer are, since he was a 21-year old freshman, but he has a nice combination of skill and size.
I find it fascinating that SLU now has two wins and a tie against the Elite Eight programs in 2017. It's sort of a wonder, but also a shame, isn't it?

Brian Sciaretta @BrianSciaretta 47m47 minutes ago St. Louis University men's soccer players who won player of the year for pro clubs or county's federation. Impressive Brian McBride: Fulham 2x, Chicago 1x Tim Ream: Bolton 2x, Fulham 1x Brad Davis: Houston 4x Vedad Ibisevic: Bosnia POY x1 (+ the NY Jets all-time leading scorer)
Here is when these guys last played for SLU. McBride - 1993 Davis - 2001 Ibisevic - 2003 Ream - 2009 This program already lives way too much in the past. While these accomplishments are something to be proud of, not really something SLU should be overplaying to change the image of them being a factor in the current soccer world. (And yes, I know this came from a tweet from Brian, not from anyone affiliated with SLU. But the point stands; SLU needs to make the program about the now, not about its past.)
The "now" might be here quicker than people like you might realize. Even though you labeled him a "local club coach" , Kevin Kalish is one of the brightest and respected minds in the game. Maybe you need a refresher.... He wasn't just a "local club coach" ... He was the Director of St. Louis Scott Gallagher, one of the more successful clubs in the country, especially at developing young talent. His foot prints are all over the likes of Josh Sargent, Tim Ream and many other successful college and professional players. He also previously led SIUE back into DI and has experience recruiting top talent .... most notably Matt Polster and Keegan McCugh. Now, I know you like to do your homework, based on your long winded responses, but I think you are being a bit disrespectful to the program and to KK, in particular. No offense....just my perspective from some of your previous posts regarding SLU. I agree , the past is in the past...so let's focus on the "now"...and who is leading the "now".
There is nothing factually inaccurate about describing Kevin Kalish as a local club coach as that is what he was at the time of his hiring by SLU. That you would read negatives and inferiorities into that description speaks far more about you than it does Kalish or myself.
Ironic that you didn't label Jeff Cook as a "local youth coach? I'm just "reading" your words. Don't need to be sensitive... Just thought I'd point out that while you may not like SLU "living in the past" , that you might not know all about the "now". That's all.
I described Jeff Cook as having come from the Philadelphia Union academy because - wait for it - came from the Philadelphia Union academy. This seems like a really odd thing to get all butt-hurt about. Are you perhaps related to SoccerTom? But thanks for chiming in.
After two years as a New Mexico Lobo, Devin Boyce has transferred to SLU. A major loss for the Lobos, Devin will become a fan favorite at SLU. He sets up plays nicely on offense, and wreaks defensive havoc in the midfield. He's a natural Mr. Hustle. http://www.slubillikens.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=211718158&DB_OEM_ID=27200
Hank: is it the first player to move because of the Lobos program being cut? Do you know whether other ones will leave now, not waiting for the effective end in 2019?
