What are your 5 favorite AMERICAN movies.

Because my movies 6-10 are only marginally behind the movies 1-5

 

Personally, I can't come up with a given number of favourite movies regardless of genre and subject matter. I simply don't see how it can be done... comparing the quality of a historical war film to that of a romantic comedy just doesn't work in books. I need a particular subject. Par example, my top 10 drug movies:

1. Scarface
2. Trainspotting
3. Traffic
4. Requiem for a Dream
5. Layer Cake
6. Cidade de Deus (City of God)
7. Blow
8. 25th Hour
9. Training Day
10. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

 

Go drive off a cliff, and if you survive come back with some taste.

BTW - FM - Trainspotting - IMHO - one of the 10 greatest movies of all times - irregardless of age, nation, etc. - I'll show it to my kindele once she's 17/18.

 

Yea, those are all good films, with the exception of Traffic. I haven't seen that yet.

 

Traffic's great, I love it. Didn't enjoy Layer Cake though.

Even though I found "Lord of War" to be fairly entertaining, I rounded out the top 5 with it largely because I couldn't think of anything better. Otherwise, piss off, "Hotel Rwanda" was stunningly moving.
