OK, now that we know that Cornell Glen is out for the year, and Lurch has been traded, what are our great FO going to do? The question is who is out ther and what would we accept & what would we trade for them, if anything? Are there any "free agents" out there? Any international transfers? Is that window still open? Any thoughts? Ideas? With what we have, we may be able to eeek out another USOC, but we may barely make the playoffs and I don't want to be flamed but I don't think we have the horses to reach MLS Cup 2006. Ideas?
Just get a low paying striker from central America or the Carribbean. Come on, there has to be another Ruiz out there somewhere.
They won't drop Kirk. He's only 18 and they're going to wait on his talent to see if he grows as a player. As for Herc, we should trade him for someone who actually scores.
I would hate to lose Herc but he is not producing. Then Herc and Gordon would be the perfectcombo to get rid of. First of all! who's available?
Herc isn't necessarily the problem. Look. We started for umpteen games the 2 weakest wingers in MLS: Gardner and Kirk. I like both players and think they will be fine MLS players in the future. But the fact that they are far and away the worst starters in MLS means that teams can focus on the rest of the midfield and the forwards. W/ the midfield shut down, how the *$#@&**%* are the forwards going to score?
There is a player right now in training with the team. I saw him last night at the Open Cup game with the sub/ reserve practice. He is someone Yallop knows. I don't know his name, or what position, but he looked faily young.
To be honest we have been playing very good ever since Donavan has comed back, I'm not saying it's all about him but probably he's talking smack to the team and getting them hyped up. Other guys are stepping up, Kirk, Sturgis, and Quranta just fitted right in the line up. But as for Herculez, he doesn't feel like he wants to be with the team. Gordon everytime they give him the ball instead of going foward he goes back or passes back to the defenders, this guy looks like a Tank, he should be running over defenders. next year Cornel is going to explode thats if we don't trade him, other than that we are doing fine with out him. Galaxy 4 life.
In terms of the long run (next year) our first priority ought to be a good target forward to pair with Donovan, which means that we can/should trade Herc or Glen. The problem is, which one? In some ways, Glen is a mix of a speed forward and an in-the-box forward and so would be the better choice - so trade Herc. However, we really haven't seen enough of Glen to determine whether he will be as good as Herc, and injured he won't bring much in the market anyway - so don't trade Herc. There is a tall forward at Seattle who is lighting up USL-1 who I would like to take a chance on. Maybe he'll be Gordon, maybe he'll be Ching, who knows.
How about Lucio Filomeno, he was released by DC United, not very big but can hold the ball pretty well and create for others. Only if we have enough money though I wouldn't want any of our existing forwards traded for him, I think Yallop should definitley see to it to give herc some minutes Gordon isn't going to do it for us starting, it puts too much of a load on Landon, put Herc up their and let him play through this bad form.
Hey Duncan Ferguson was released by Everton, Frank, Alexi did you hear me. I know I know not enough money.
This morning on Fox Soccer CHannel I heard that Ronald Cerritos of Houston was released, at least I'm pretty sure thats what I heard, I wouldn't mind us picking him up either.
Given that our roster is already pretty threadbare in terms of the number of healthy players we have wouldnt trading 2 for 1 dig us an even deeper hole? The answer is that we need to sign people and the window closes the last day of this month I believe. We have waived and traded away a whole lot of guys for next to nothing so we should have cap space and money. What the heck are Yallop and Lalas waiting for??
