He is getting huge wraps at Espanyol. http://www.marca.com/en/2015/09/27/en/football/spanish_football/1443367867.html
He has 3 assists tonight against Betis OptaJose @OptaJose 1 - Marco Asensio is the only Espanyol player to have made three assists in a single La Liga game (since 98/99). Show.
Pretty much the highlight of Espanyol's season. The fans are chanting his name at every match i've seen. Somebody is getting dropped from the team next season because it looks very unlikely that we will not bring him back.
A loan was absolutely necessary but man I wish we could have him now. I've seriously yet to see a bad match from this kid when I watch the Spain sub19 team and Espanyol. He and Mayoral also scored for Spain last week.
I expected him to stay at Real Madrid to be honest. Everyone could see that he's special. But I guess it's good that he gets lots and lots of minutes at Espanyol. I expect him to fight for a starting XI position next season. I have my opinions on who's going to miss the boat when this kid returns.. What a buy!
A loan was always the best move. I think he would have gotten lost in the shuffle between Vasquez, Denis, Jese, and Isco being the . Its clear he is at his best centrally with a drifting role though.
I agree that a loan was the best option. However, if there was a player that would deserve a spot on the squad merely on talent, it's this kid. Incredible talent really. He's fast, has amazing technique and ball control and doesn't overdo his runs. His passing is very good for a 19 year old as well. A fairly complete forward/AM. Can't wait to see him next season. Hope he keeps this form!
Look at Casemoir now from his previous stint with us and compare the careers between Morata and Jese! I am convinced that a loan deal is much better for our youngsters.
I was wondering when the Dutch would start to woo him. Even though he was born and raised in Majorca, Spain his mother is from the Netherlands so he can play for them. Will Asensio ditch Spain for the Dutch? https://t.co/7Yvp6TNedy pic.twitter.com/BX9o7UPkH3— MARCA in English 🇺🇸 (@MARCAinENGLISH) October 21, 2015
Looking at the list, I think he has a chance for top 5. My personal top 3 would be Correa, Asensio, and Martial. Martial will probably win though.
Yeah, agreed. There's a good list of competition - Correa, Neves, Martial, Halilovic, Bellerin, etc - but I think Asensio should be top three (if not the winner) because he's done more than probably anyone else on the list by leading the Spain Under-19 team to victory in the UEFA Under-19 tournament and being chosen the best player of the tournament too. Sweden won the Under-21 tournament and none of his competition has really accomplished as much in 2015. If Martial wins, it'll be due to him being in the headlines a lot recently.
Just passing along knowledge, there's plenty more out there than just Spain and England You guys should play some FM and see
