Add these: Oakland, women http://www.ougrizzlies.com/sports/w-soccer/sched/oakl-w-soccer-sched.html Detroit, men http://www.detroittitans.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc In terms of Division I (varisity), still waiting for Western Michigan women and Detroit women. (Debating whether to include club teams.)
And the final two D-I squads have posted schedules (took the Broncos long enough): Western Michigan, women http://www.wmubroncos.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=4600&SPID=1913&SPSID=24096 Detroit, women http://www.detroittitans.com/schedule.aspx?path=wsoc

Reminder: Michigan Bucks host the playoffs this Saturday and Sunday. The Bucks play the early game, at 6:00, on Saturday.
There is a strong possibility of live streaming video of all three PDL playoff games at USA this weekend. Go to buckssoccer.com for more info (I would hope...).
Guess it's time for a Bucks post-mortem after last weekend's dismissal by Forest City London. First, the last few games of the season. What happened to the "Machine" that was trouncing teams left and right? A road loss before the last game of the season meant they had to scramble in the last game to get to host, and then squeeked out a win in the first playdown. Were we looking at the first signs of trouble for the squad? When they fell behind to London, I was wondering if how often they had to play behind all season (didn't go through all the box scores to find out). Did this team have the mettle to make a comeback? And then the second goal by London was an absolutely exquisit play on a quick-restart into the penalty box. Still have to go back to my recording of the match to really disect it. (It took me long enough just to make DVD's of all three matches, to leave for the Bucks.) I have the feeling that London was just looking for the right spot to pull a trick play: leading 1-0 (so if the trick went sour, and couldn't get a shot-at-goal, it wouldn't have been disastorous), with the game just approaching the three-quarter pole. The team didn't really seem in sync before the free kick. Even the Bucks own article seemed a bit critical of the team during that free-kick play. http://www.buckssoccer.com/home/648058.html So losses like these (three years losing in the national quarterfinals?), similar to the Red Wings playoffs miscues, makes it obvious that there are different teams to get built for the regular season versus the playoffs. What, if anything, needs to change for our Orange to make it back to the title? (Has it really been six years since the champoinship?) Anybody find it ironic, that in this Olympic year, a team from London (although a bit west of that "other" London) could be the titleist?
And a quick follow-up on the no-webcast. Appearently, the streaming company needs a one-week lead time to set up a web-stream. And, of course, the Bucks didn't know they were hosting until one week previuosly. However, you would think that in these days of the im-tar-nert's, that you could set something up in a day or two max (probably one day for the technical setups, one day for the legalities). The Bucks were ready to pull their own camera equipment out of storage, for the stream. In the end, I just ended up recording it on my cam, then made DVD's. Still don't get it, though.
One more local college schedule of note. Rochester College, which plays their home games at the Ultimate: Men http://www.rochestercollegewarriors.com/schedule/0/5.php Women http://www.rochestercollegewarriors.com/schedule/0/8.php And if any of you have ever checked my calendar (see my signature), all matches have been placed in there.
The college season has already started, in a sense, with the first exhibition games played. Official D-I contests don't start until August 17 for women and August 24 for men. (see the calendar in my signature). Anyone want to catch some college games? Oakland has a women's exhib this Saturday. (Detroit-Mercy has an alumni match.) Also, the Big Ten Network has announced its broadcasted games. (The press release says 60+ matches, but only 26 (13 M, 13 W) are listed. If it is like last year, the rest would be on their for-pay streaming service.) http://btn.com/2012/08/07/btn-will-air-more-soccer-than-ever-before/
The South Florida [v] Michigan college match will be shown on Fox Soccer this Friday at 7:00; repeat at 3:00 a.m. (I've already caught four college matches this season (2M, 2W); it helps that I work just down M-59 from Oakland U.)

I'm looking for someone to cover the team for MLive if anyone is interested. You contact me using this if you're interested: http://www.thecup.us/contact-us (I emailed them last year asking for info on the team, but they never replied ... so maybe they don't want coverage?)

Anybody following the high school tournament, starting next week? I usually try to catch a few games, even if I don't have a direct link to any school. http://www.mhsaa.com/Sports/BoysSoccer.aspx
The Boys high school tournament is at the SF's (October 31); Finals on November 3: http://www.mhsaa.com/Sports/BoysSoccer.aspx It's nearing tournament time for the colleges. The MAC women's have first-round play tommorrow (Sunday, Oct 28). Both Central and Eastern host first-round matches: http://www.mac-sports.com/News/tabi...AC-Womens-Soccer-Tournament-Pairings-Set.aspx Many college conference tournaments open either this midweek or next weekend. Five of the six NCAA tournaments have their selections on Monday November 5, with the D-I Mens a week later: http://www.ncaa.com/news/ncaa/article/2012-09-27/2012-fall-championships-selections
Weekend Conference Tournaments, etc. There are a lot of conference tournaments this weekend (D-I women; D-II and D-III both sides), as well as the MHSAA boys finals, leading up to the five NCAA selection shows on Monday. Here is an output from my calendar (see my signature for the address). By the way, the USCAA is one of the conferences that Rochester College belongs to. They make it quite a few times (and even hosted it once at the "Ult") but didn't make this year (the men just missed out; the women finished 3-14). ...and, yes, even the Waza begin this weekend on the road... * Thu Nov 1, 2012 11am USCAA; Mlive on the UM [v] MSU game: http://www.mlive.com/soccer/index.s...higan_clash_for_big_bear_trophy_saturday.html (aside to Josh on the picture: you gotta' move the trophy out of the way, if you want to get that forklift completely in frame...) Just looking at the Big Ten standings ( http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/m-soccer-standings.html ) and in particular the overall records: State at 8-8-1; Mich at 7-8-1. This almost becomes an elimination game in terms of getting an at-large bid to the NCAA's. Maybe an at-large is out of the question for either of them, anyway, but just saying that you need a .500 overall record to be considered. A loss by Mich would put them at 2-below, so they would have to win the Big Ten tournament to get to 1-above. (The win by State would then put them at 1-above, so they couldn't go below after the conference tournament. Let's not overlook the fact that it would also give them the outright B1G regular season title, which would look good to the committee if they don't win the conf tournament.) Conversely, a Mich win would put them at .500 pre-tournament, and would still have to win one in the tourney. It would also put State below .500, forcing at least one win (probably two, making the conf championship game). Complicating all these scenarios is that any match (even conference tournement matches) can offically end in draw. This can set up some quirky situations; for example: Mich beats State to go 8-8-1 overall; they then lose in PK's in the tournment, officially ending 8-8-2 and technically tournament eligible (but likely not chosen, anyway; this is just a think-out-loud case). Should be a good atmosphere in the "not-so-big-house."
A new week; a new slate of schedules, including the D-I Men's conference tournaments, the NCAA's in D-I W; D-II M and W; and D-III M and W. Also, the Waza start their home slate. Michigan women's team will host Central Michigan, and Ohio State hosts Oakland; days and times TBA. Detroit-Mercy has won the regular season title of their league, and will host the conference tournament. If they reach the final, this would be another great chance for DET-based fans to get out to the pitch to root for the home guys! Of course by now, you probably heard about the USWNT match on December 8. USSoccer story: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Womens...National-Team-Fan-Tribute-Tour-Confirmed.aspx Ford Field story: http://www.detroitlions.com/news/ar...rd-Field/f7c02239-b336-4ab3-86f7-d2b93bbb120d tickets: http://www.ussoccer.com/Schedule-Tickets/2012/121208-US-Women-vs-China.aspx probably there would be some group sales from the various fan clubs... I'll let them distribute that info. Now, if we all remember the Ford Field experience a few years ago (USWNT match, not the Gold Cup), they pulled a REALLY bare-bones operation that day. I missed the early-game gaff by the opposing goalie (thinking that the football 10-yard line was the edge of the penalty area) while standing in a concession line, even though I got in line before the game started. Just the top of the list of many, many forgetable experiences that day. Hope they put a little more effort into customer service for this match. Also, TV hasn't been announced, but since the match is at 1:30, you figure that the TV is already set. They certainly didn't choose that time for China TV: it would be 2:30 a.m. there.

the latest weekly tournament scheduler listing. This one is still waiting the brackets for NCAA D-I Men, and NAIA both sides. (The NAIA announced the teams, but the brackets come out tommorrow. And since both tournaments had 24 auto-bids, all they really did today is announce eight at-large's each.) In the NAIA Women's, qualifiers are Davenport and Spring Arbor. In the NAIA Men's, qualifiers are Aquinas and Spring Arbor. And just to state the unique tournament format in the NAIA: the first round (R-32) gets played on home sites, and the final 16 gets played at a single site within one week. * Mon Nov 12, 2012 2pm NAIA; M; Bracket http://www.naia.org//SportSelect.dbml?&&&DB_OEM_ID=27900&SPID=100398&SPSID=646079 3pm NAIA; W; Bracket http://www.naia.org//SportSelect.dbml?&&&DB_OEM_ID=27900&SPID=100506&SPSID=646086 5:30pm NCAA, D-I, M, Selection @ NCAA.com Selection Show http://www.ncaa.com/sports/soccer-men/d1 * Thu Nov 15, 2012 All day NCAA, D-I, M, R1 (48) http://www.ncaa.com/sports/soccer-men/d1 * Fri Nov 16, 2012 All day NCAA, D-III, M, R3, R4 (16, QF) http://www.ncaa.com/sports/soccer-men/d3 All day NCAA; D-I; W; R2 (32); Oakland [v] Texas A&M @ Tallahassee, FL (Florida St.) http://www.ncaa.com/sports/soccer-women/d1 #1-REG Florida St. [v] Texas Tech Oakland [v] Texas A&M All day NCAA; D-II; M; R3 (16); #1-MW Rockhurst [v] #2-MW Saginaw Valley St. @ Tahlequah, OK (Northeastern St.) http://www.ncaa.com/sports/soccer-men/d2 #1-CENT Northeastern St. [v] #2-CENT Fort Hays St. #1-MW Rockhurst [v] #2-MW Saginaw Valley St. All day NCAA; D-II; W; R3 (16); #1-MW Grand Valley St. [v] #6-MW Wis.-Parkside @ Allendale, MI (Grand Valley St.) http://www.ncaa.com/sports/soccer-women/d2 #1-MW Grand Valley St. [v] #6-MW Wis.-Parkside #1-CENT Central Mo.
