New week, new thread. Here's the latest injury report: http://www.nwslsoccer.com/News/808609.html ETA: Mewis is off the IR. Could she make her debut for Boston on Thursday?
I think she have been off for a while now. Nice to see Boston is all healthy while Seattle list continue to grow, sigh
Not too surprising; if both were still technically injured for the weekend, the one who got rest is now more healed and the one who played is more roughed up.
Isn't it supposed to be 8pm EASTERN time? Someone accidentally started the stream early? HOU's twitter says kickoff 7pm central.
Yeah, it started with like an hour left, and showed the interior stadium shot for a few seconds before going black. Then after a while the stadium shot came back for a brief flash and went back to black. I guess maybe they started it early accidentally, but they can't stop it and restart it without creating a new live stream, so they gotta keep it going? I dunno.
Well, great for her to get called up, but bad break for Houston. They're much better with her on the backline....
So is Shim...again. Maybe Riley is spreading minutes around, trying to manage legs (in the case of Long). Maybe he likes the spark Shim offers as a substitute. But hmm. Those two are clearly more effective players than Moros/Kerr/Farrelly. Wouldn't you rather have them on the field for 60+ minutes rather than 20-30?
Nah, Long took a knock in the last match. Most likely when she collided with Solo. It was mentioned somewhere on twitter that she was questionable for this match. I don't know why Riley did not indicate it on the IR
That makes sense. It's Shim's limited cameo appearances that are more puzzling. There was some word preseason that Riley wasn't impressed with her fitness level. I can't speak to that. I just go by what I see in games - that the Thorns play better soccer with Shim on the field.
The Nigeria match is on the 24th, and Houston has a match on the 26th. She might play that one, or Waldrum may save her for their match on the 31st.
Huffman as well. Look at what happened against KC- the two of them came in and Portland took control.
Houston: Ohale and McLeod return; Ochs for #7 Kealia Ohai; Souza for Noyola? Kyle to midfield. 22 Stephanie Ochs, 19 Nina Burger, 6 Rafaelle Souza 9 Kaylyn Kyle, 30 Ella Masar, 14 Becky Edwards 8 Jordan Jackson, 21 Holly Hein, 20 Osinache Ohale, 2 Arianna Romero 1(c) Erin McLeod Portland: Farrelly for #10 Allie Long. 24 Sinead Farrelly, 14 Jessica McDonald, 12(c) Christine Sinclai 2 Rebecca Moros, 22 Amber Brooks, 8 Angie Kerr 20 Katarina Tarr, 21 Emily Menges, 7 Nikki Marshall, 25 Courtney Niemiec 1 Nadine Angerer
06' 0-0 Midfield duel, short passing vs. high pressure. Nice weather in Houston. 06' 0-0 Kyle passes on the ground from circle top left into box top left, Masar cuts across and Angerer comes way up to sweep clear. Offside anyways -- on Masar? 07' 0-0 Houston more pressure, Tarr gets forward and passes up box left, cross intercepted. 08' 0-0 Portland counters to Sinclair through box top arc left, turned 1-v-1 by Ohale. Switch wide right, cross blocked.
09' 0-0 Jordan slides and fouls at 27m arc right. Portland fk, bozo stream stayed with the replay too long. Portland pass from box top arc right into box mid-right, McDonald pulls a shot across mouth, just wide left. 11' 0-0 RM Kerr lofts a forward pass from midfield wide right to 24m centerline, bounces for Burger between the CBs -- but Marshall overtakes and takes ball sideways. 12' 0-0 McDonald spins endline at box mid-right, passes to Sinclair cutting center-to-right at 8m 6-right. One-touch right instep, just wide left.
