It's Landon Donovan's fault. It's Bruce Arena's fault. It's Sunil's fault. Take your pick. Everything about soccer in this country comes down to one of these 3 excuses.
How could you forget ESPN? And obviously you don't hang out on the youth boards, because then you'd have to offer Bradenton too. But the ultimate correct answer, in this case and always, is that it's the fault of BigSoccer. Whatever we, the fans, want or think or like is invariably wrong and pernicious. Just ask monster and his cronies, they'll tell you.
That was the first one that came to mind, but then I started thinking of other things and voila! Tru dat.
so the G's are playing the RSL's and are up 1-0 around the 14th minute at least. But matchtracker ain't goin'... I know that Landon -- oh ye of blame fame -- hath gotteth an assist... but who hath scoredeth? EDIT: Gordon.
Meanwhile, according to matchtracker, we seem to be entering the 40th minute of stoppage time in Houston.
Landon not on the best form re PK taking, as Nick Rimando saves another poorly taken chance to keep the game close for RSL. Didn't look like much of a foul on Gordon to lead to the PK call, but LA had a legitimate appeal denied in half one for a Kipre foul on Martino.
Right after Cobi Jones hits the bar, Eskandarian steals the ball from Pete Vagenas, slips it to Andy Williams, and Williams releases the newly-substituted Robbie Findley, who barely outpaces Mike Randolph and slides a great ball past Cronin to the near post. 1-1, 66 gone.
A battling Eddie Pope takes a shot while falling down, and puts RSL ahead in the 71st minute, 2-1. This came after a poor clearance by backup goalkeeper Steve Cronin, who neither held Eskandarian's free kick nor punched it clear, and Pope charged through to knock it home (on his second try).
Geez. LA's outplaying RSL, has had waaaay more opportunities to score and is now down 2-1. Worst. Season. Ever.
I'm not watching (and not sure why you're home lol) but looks pretty even as far as shots no? Real Salt Lake Los Angeles Galaxy Total Shots: 13 15 Shots on Goal: 8 5 Total Saves: 4 6 Fouls: 7 11 Offsides: 3 5 Corner Kicks: 4 5
LA had by far the better of the play in half one and should have had more than one goal. Then Donovan missed the PK, Jones hit the bar, and then RSL turned it on in minute 60. But carlos is right - RSL should not have been in position to turn in on in minute 60. RSL has looked great since that time.
I'm really loving HDNET broadcasts. They look really professionals unlike certain stations. Anyways congrats to RSL.
OSU alums Gordon and Findley both scored in the LA-RSL game. When was the last time two Beavers scored in a soccer game? (And please, no Wambach-Tarpley jokes!)
Just when you thought it couldnt get worse for LA they lose to RSL at home. Ouch!! I wonder if Alexi and Frank are gone tomorrow?
I doubt it. Why bother? It's not as if a new coach is going to suddenly get the LAG to the playoffs. They may as well keep Frank to the end of the season, see if Galaxy gets better (shows a glimmer of hope for next year) and replace him during off season so a new coach can start fresh.
Sincerely, Eric Wynalda On a(n albeit only slightly) more serious note, I heard a pre-game announcement (commercial) for "BigSoccer.com" at Pizza Hut Park tonight. Is BS a league sponsor? Any one else hearing these in your stadium?
