[tee-hee!] But okay, here's something I wondered, has any team played well on that field at Benedictine? And by any team playing well, I mean a team that tries to play fluid, creative soccer - say Seattle or KC. Is it possible on that field?
Considering the team that plays on that field has a very ugly style of play, I'd say no. A large number of matches on that field are knock down, drag out demolition derbies.
Well the second time Washington played there I thought they played smart. It wasn't an overall physical contest like their first encounter. They basically sat back and absorb the pressure and only attack on counters. Obviously Harris was a big reason the one. As for the question, given the type of style that KC plays, one will expect them to not have any problems as they are the masters of small spaces. Portland on the other hand for me seems like they will struggle as their passing/possession style leaves much to be desired.
Paulson just tweeted that the Portland/KC match will start at 4 PM PST instead of 2 PM PST so as not to overlap with the WC final.
Who's ready to see christen kick some more ptfc ass tonight!? She really showed me what a huge star she is last game. We are so lucky to have her!! Btw, I wonder if there is any pressure between Christen and Alex in these games to out perform each other... To be honest, I don't think Alex would be too happy about her NWSL come back so far. I know part of it is playing back into form but she probably expected to have 5 goals by now.
CRS Starting xi: GK LeBlanc, Hemmings, Johnston, Erceg, Quon, Boxx, Van Egmond, Chalupny (c), Mautz, Press, Hoy— Red Stars Live (@RedStarsLive) July 9, 2014 Welcome back Boxx! Did anyone know she was this close to playing? Not too happy about DiBernardo not starting though. I'm sure it's about player rotation with a game happening Saturday, but isn't today more of a "must-win"?
Going by the logic of Merritt Paulsen, today July 9 2014 marks the official start of the 2014 season as now all teams have their outstanding players back. All results prior to this day is invalid. Let the games begin and may the gods be ever in your favor!
Yeah this looks like the same strategy from last game where we will probably see Press playing deep. Why not bench Mautz for DiBernado and play Press higher
Absolutely! Yeah, somehow I captained her accidentally on my FL team this week.... not sure how that happened but it is a painful error.
It's egregious that Chicago has had several attacks around the box now, and Press is not even in the screen frame.
