Weinino played a real good game from that aspect. Oddly, the PbyP guy keep saying that WNY wasnt getting called for any fouls.
And Scott would completely own Necib. France really needs to study FCKC. Without Delie France is dead in the water against stronger sides, where as KC doesn't even need offense production for their lone-striker, just interaction with the mid-field, which is something Cuellar couldn't do vs Henderson.
actually, it seemed to me that chicago committed some really rough fouls right at the beginning of the game. it seemed to be their m.o. and when the ref didn't pull any cards, they kept doing it - which is the right thing to do. wny could never get into a groove. i was actually recoiling at a couple of those fouls tho. not sure it's good for the game.
SkyBlue really suffers offensively when they don't have DeVanna, or when she gets shut down by defenses.
Who put the curse on O'Hara? Seriously, her inability to score has long passed the painful stage and is just sad now.
Not sure SkyBlue deserved to score, but kudos to Ocampo for capitalizing on a one-in-a-million bounce of the ball.
Ocampo is just pesky...u dont notce her for long stretches but she always seems around the ball in the box.
There was one moment when long ball was sent and Wash forward started for it along with Rampone - one step later she looked who is she dealing with and she literally stopped. Like "f.. it, no chance!"
I'm starting to become more of a believer that Sky Blue is definitely going to finish ahead of Portland in the final standings. We'll see if the refs allow that though.
Exactly, and the facts are that at full strength, SkyBlue is almost impossible to beat. If the current standings stay the same, however, they could very easily lose in the semifinal, as they would face their nemesis WNY.
Went to the NJ game, crowd of 1,332 bit larger than I had thought it would be, being a long holiday at the shore. The attendance is not announced at the games anymore. Correct hot and sticky. But boring! "Lack a spark" is the expression we were using about missing the two Australians. I half jokingly said that she would have made that shot back in Stanford, and a knowledgeable person I was with, said I was right. After the national allocations, the Spirit team really falls off. Just not enough for them (nationals) to work with. Was not impressed on whole with Pohlers, who in addition could not handle the temperature. They gave a second round pick for Taylor? Why? While she only have had meaningful playing time when others are out, this allocation thing seems to be working for her.
The Portland backline with the exception of Kat Williamson have been playing horribly. Buehler is having a bad game.
I like that expression. Very fitting. Desperation. They needed some kind of offense, and thanks to their inability to look beyond the local area, they got a fat lot of nothing. What a game for Leroux. Wouldn't be surprised if she got her second hat trick.
