well, yeah I've heard Saez uses him there since he has no coverage in that position (certainly he does not trust Bravo! :D)

Thats for sure Mario. But what do you think about Reyes as a replacement for LE21, or that he would play on the left side?!

    next year:
    defenders: Navarro, Marquez, Puyol, Gabri
    midfielders: Battaglia, Riquelme/Xavi
attacking mid.: Reyes, Ronaldiniho, Quaresma/Luis garcia
    striker: Saviola

oh, can Riquelme play as a winger where Luis Garcia play now, or Ronnie as a winger (didnt Ronnie play as a winger in Brazil team at WC 2002?)

BTW, what do you think of bringing Owen or Henry (bouth very unlikely) and bench Saviola?

unfortunately my friend, Reyes, Roman and Seba Battaglia are dreams! anyway Roman never fit in as a winger, he only plays as a central attacking mid.

Re: Total confusion, Owen to Barca, Reyes to Liverpool?!

Not for that kind of money, we don't. But I would love to see him play some one-two with Ronnie. I suspect this is all 'crazy talk' but who knows, Liverpool is going nowhere domestically, Owen might want to "jump start" a career that seems to be hitting a plateau, and Houllier is always tinkering with that roster.

I am reminded of a great quote by the American baseball manager Whitey Herzog. "Defense will come and go throughout the season, offense will come and go, but speed comes to the park every day". :)

Several clubs will chase Owen this Summer, even Man Utd and Chelsea, maybe he'll go to Bayern Munich who knows. The Summer is far off, BTW, today is my birthday!

Barcelona revive Porto talks over ace Deco
    tribalfootball.com - November 19, 2003

Barcelona officials have taken advantage of their stay in Portugal this week to resurrect talks with Porto over playmaker Deco.
The Brazilian-born Portuguese international is a prime target for Barca trainer Frank Rijkaard.

The Dutch coach wants to bring in an attacking midfielder next season and also has AC Milan's Rui Costa under consideration.

However, Deco is his No1 choice and the two clubs have held further talks this week about a possible £15 million deal at the end of the season.

and it looks like Holland may need a new striker...although I would gladly take either RvN or VdV from them.

Kluivert faces axe after big night out

    Holland v Scotland

    Dominic Fifield in Amsterdam
    Wednesday November 19, 2003
    The Guardian

Holland's preparations for tonight's critical Euro 2004 play-off with Scotland have been thrown into turmoil after it was reported that up to 10 of their players attended a rave in Amsterdam hours after their humiliating defeat in Glasgow.
The Dutch newspaper Het Parool claimed yesterday that it had photographs to prove that senior players, most notably the striker Patrick Kluivert and Ajax's attacking midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, spent Saturday night at the event which was arranged by International Dance & Trance, a firm which specialises in organising raves.

The Dutch Football Association later insisted that only the Barcelona striker had attended, and then merely to pick up his wife, though the allegations - which were broadcast on TV and radio across the Netherlands yesterday - have prompted a predictably furious reaction among the public.

"It seems everyone is trying to undermine the national team," said the coach Dick Advocaat at the team hotel in Noordwijk am See, accusing the press of attempting to destabilise his side's preparations. "The players are furious."

Advocaat is understood to have been aware that the party was taking place, but senior officials within the Dutch FA are still privately appalled at the players' attitude in the wake of the potentially disastrous 1-0 defeat at Hampden Park.

The newspaper claimed that Kluivert had booked a VIP table for 10 with ID&T two weeks ago and, having touched down at Schiphol airport with the squad at around 9.30pm on Saturday and with the Holland squad not due to re-convene until eight o'clock on Sunday evening, decided to attend the event despite the loss on Clydeside.

The party, which ran from 11pm on Saturday until around 8am on Sunday morning, took place in the East Harbour district, behind Amsterdam's Centraal Station. However, Kluivert's insistence that he only made a fleeting appearance was contested by the local Radio Three station, which was inundated yesterday with texted photographs taken on mobile telephones suggesting the forward spent most of the night at the event.

As it is, the 27-year-old is likely to be one of a three senior players omitted for this evening's second leg - Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Edgar Davids are expected to be dropped on grounds of their poor displays -as Holland attempt to overhaul a one-goal deficit.

Van der Vaart, a playing substitute on Saturday, may also start at the Amsterdam ArenA given the ineffectiveness of the Dutch forwards at Hampden.

Gio, Lazy...NO!!! That's impossible I mean...yes he's lazy, dammit he's lazy and he should get Cesc Fabregas back for him..he's a decent player but a Left Back is his not.

Deco is another No.10. If we do bring Riquelme back we'll have to play w/ 5 Defenders or something. Ronnie, RQ20, JRR, Saviola, and Deco. Funny if you think about it..3 of them Speak Portugese and 2 speak Spanish (ARG)

Deco is able to play as an out and out striker, his game is suitable for the spanish league.

Actually I screwed up my joke, Deco probably wouldn't have to learn Spanish..But ok MARIO choose between the 2, Deco or Tevez.

Yeah, Mario, sweat dreams (for now).

I watched Holland-Scotland yesterday. Write that down: 6-0. (Sneijder, Van Nistelrooy 3, Ooijer, F. de Boer). great mach!!!!!!!!
This ajax guy Sneijder, this is a wonderkid. He scored a dream goal a he assist for 3 others. It is really enjoyable watching him playing. His passes are 100% accurate!!! and his technique... He and VdV are really superb players. Playing together, they are impossible to stop. They are like twins. (I wonder if Barca spent properly on Quaresma, he is way behind Sneijder)

    Vieri next year in Barca?

    Barcelona make Vieri bid
    Wednesday 19 November, 2003

Christian Vieri has skipped training for two days as reports that he is to accept a switch to Barcelona intensify.

The Inter hitman has been out of sorts since the summer and had been tipped for a move to Chelsea.

However, recent comments that he would like to try another Spanish experience after his successful stint at Atletico Madrid sparked interest from Barca.

Blaugrana President Joan Laporta has reportedly contacted Inter to discuss terms for a £27m bid.

Vieri would also be offered a three-year contract worth approximately £4.8m per season, the same figure he currently earns at the San Siro.

The press coverage around the unhappy striker has been particularly intense over the last few weeks and the fact Vieri has not attended training for several days only served to increase speculation.

However, the club maintains that a bout of the flu and consequent fever is the only reason behind his absence.

Perhaps a little old, but one of the best strikers in the world (rather see him than Owen in attack)!!!

Is this a proposed January move?

If so, I assume he is already CL tied to Inter, and thus only able ot helps us in the domestic campaign.

I never tought that Vieri could be a Barca player. I tought that Interis not so stupid to sell him. But Moratti is a strange man, he sold Ronaldo, Chrespo... Never now, but why not, he is a world class and can play alone in attack. There is not many defenders in Spain that could play against him, perhaps Puyol but he plays for us :D

I dont know, it might be, but as far as I remember board said that they will not buy new players in january, and we have to get rid of Kluivert first.

    Rosell makes new Henry boast

Barcelona vice president Sandro Rosell has stated the Catalan giants would be prepared to pay up to €40 million (£28 million) in a bid to prise Thierry Henry away from Arsenal.
The Primera outfit have made no secret of their desire to land the France international striker and insist he is not beyond their means.

Henry has been in outstanding form this term for The Gunners and is one of the leading candidates to be named Fifa World Player of the Year later this month.

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood claimed recently that Henry was worth £200 million, but Rosell believes that Barca, or arch rivals Real Madrid, could persuade the North Londoners to part with their most prized asset for considerably less than that.

When asked whether the former Monaco and Juventus star could be the next superstar signing for either Barca or Real, Rosell stated: "He could be, he could be, it depends on the figures.

"There are many factors that influence the price of a player.

"We say that it could be between €20 and €40 million when the salary and length of contract are considered.

"It also depends if Madrid are prepared to pay whatever price.

"Everything in life is relative and goes on what people will pay and who is involved. If Madrid pay £200 million…"

Rosell also declared that he thought Henry was not currently the best player in world football, and instead, perhaps unsurprisingly, afforded that accolade to Barcelona star Ronaldinho.

"After Ronaldinho, for me he (Henry) is the best player in the world, yes."

Rosell's comments are likely to cut little ice at Highbury as both the club and the player himself have insisted that there is no chance he will depart The Gunners - whatever the price.

I think they are not serious. 40 million € for, jeah thats it. And perhaps another 20 million for Wenger to say yes to transfer. That is final, no Henry next year.
