we don't want to "discover" him, we don't want to "trade" him to DC for a bag of peanuts and we don't want some DC benchsitter.

we need to voice our opinions on this at the next Crew home game and the next time DC comes to town.

What? I don't get this? We are gonna discover Gazza just to trade him?

Oh for chists sake just let DC have him.

It's a quirk in MLS "rules". You can't trade discovery picks. We have to use our discovery pick on him, then trade him to DC for a bag of balls
and a stack of pornos for Mr. Smith.

Another thing I don't understand...why are there discovery picks to begin with? Seems to me if you find a player that nobody else has thought of signing, and he can fit in under your "salary cap", you should be able to sign anyone you want.

But, that would make too much sense.

I know it's the rules but....

Imagine if we so ok, signed Gazza....then decided to keep him to piss DC off.

Except Gazza probably has a clause in the contract saying he plays for DC, or he could just not show.

I don't see any point in having to use discovery picks, especially if a player is available on a free transfer, and only want's to play for a specific team. At least this late in the season it makes no sense. The only point in having limited discoveries is to keep players from skipping the draft to sign directly with specific teams. However, there has to be a better mechanism to avoid this kind of thing.

If Gazza did end up in Columbus, one would not be surprised to see him at pregame tailgates....
