So, Oezil is starting, that....SHOULD....mean that we're seeing the same formation as yesterday?

Everybody is talking about the Russia match, but we shouldn't forget about the other matches also. We have to win this match and very likely the Finland match also, otherwise a draw in Russia will not be enough.

This said, I do expect us to win this match clearly. Anything else would be a disappointment.

Yea I expect nothing less than 3 points from this one.

The real games will be against Finland and Russia.

Mario Gomez will not be able to play/start. He was injured in a training section on Sunday.

I think Klose will start instead.

I know Loew is gonna start Enke but i am so impressed with Adler in the SA match. Adler is younger and has much higher ceiling. And i don't think Enke is much better than him already

    here is my dream team:

    ------------------------------Adler

    ---Lahm--------Mertesacker---------Tasci------------Scaefer

    ---------------Schweini------Ballack------Hitzlsperger

    -------------------------Ozil------Podolski
    ------------------------------Klose

But i think Loew will start:

    ----------------------------Enke

    ---Lahm---------Mertesacker---------Friedrich---------Schaefer

    -----------------------Ballack-------Hitzlsperger
    ---------Schweini-------------Ozil----------------Marin

    ------------------------------Klose

Why would Loew start Hitzlperger? I dont think he is the better DM compare to Rolfes, for instance.

Hm but Hitz has a better left foot and finishing, Rolfes isn't bad either and has the slightly better passgame. Pretty equal when it comes to them imo.

This would be my team. Anyone know how injured Gomez is, can he be fit by Saturday?

    Just a disappointment? I'd say a huge disgrace! :)

    But don't worry, it won't happen. ;)

Seems like Enke will miss the game.

Would like to see Adler replace him, he earned it with the game against South Africa.

If Adler manages to continue his good run of form, he should be our #1.

I don't like the rotation system of our goalkeeper. Having a stable no.1 is a key factor to win a competition.

I think Gomez should rest on wednesday, we're playing a way weaker side anyway.

And for 4-3-3, i think Klose can be the targetman with Ozil and Poldi supporting; then Ballack, Schweini and Hitzlsperger(or Rolfes, doesn't make a huge difference to me) be the 3 DM/CMs

With only Ballack, Schweini and Ozil in the midfield........i think its too attacking minded. Though Ballack and Schweini aren't bad defensively, we need a tough man behind Ballack(n Schweini) to do all the dirty work. That has been mentioned so many times. Hitz and Rolfes can provide some balance in the midfield.

Sometimes, its not about playign all ur best 11 players on the pitch, its more about the system. A 4-3-3 requires at least one pure destroyer who does the dirty work (e.g. Yaya Toure, Essien, Senna) I am not a big fan of Rolfes/Hitz either but doesnt seem like we have better choice.

The injury came at the worst possible moment for Enke. Another convincing performance by Adler, he was excellent against South Africa, and he'll be the favourite for the #1 spot.

Hope to see more of Khedira this match, wouldn't mind seeing him start with Ballack but I doubt that will happen.

That must really hurt to miss his "home game" in Hanover.

He's a goalie... not a middle linebacker! and Neuer isn't exactly Ray Lewis is he? Going by your criteria Enke should be the #1

Rolfes could work, but Schwein is near the same level defensively as Hitz. We don't have a great DM, so we use 2 CMs who can both defend and attack at times like Bayern did with Ze Roberto and Bommel during Hitzfeld's era.

Or even three CM's who can both attack and defend :) Hell, even Frings wasnt a pure DM but he played that role well. Rolfes seems a lot for passive compared to Torsten though. I havent watched Westermann much at that position. Is he good?
