The first of our final four matches...Now Peru is by no means a typical challenge; yes we did lose due to an own goal and poor response from the team as a whole during the Copa America but considering how many goals we tend to score when playing these guys, this has to be a win for us; the players know this and have to make the most out of a home game like this that we can win.

The top 4 spots is very vital for us to qualify and even securing 5th is too risky.

We are 4th now let’s stay that way.

beating peru almost guarantees us being ahead both goals against and head to head.

then beat Bolivia. Boom in Qatar. Not sure if the Honduras roster was that “Bolivia game experiment”

both 6/6 or we really should have fired Rueda after the last round of games. We play awful and don’t score at a certain point it’s the coaches fault. If the players go back to their clubs and don’t stop scoring

Good luck, I'm not sure what to expect as a Peruvian to be honest, but we aren't as much pushovers as you claim. These last 2 months we've played far better than at the Copa America... well maybe FAR better is a stretch, but we've looked a bit more solid.

As for those wondering why I'm not going to Barranquilla as I said I would... Omicron had different plans :(

Pretty much, if you win this you are basically in. I went to Peru vs Bolivia at home, as well as seen some of their other away games and they are actually shocking. The fact they have 15 points kind of sums up how much weaker most teams have been during this cycle.

Not saying you are push overs but we are at home with way better players. We are ahead on the table with you guys right behind. Beating you is +++ goals + 3 points with 3 games left to play. It basically makes it very very difficult for you to catch up. + on paper your last 4 games just seem harder than ours

Yeah we absolutely need a draw at least if we want to avoid playoffs, and I don't want to risk playing Japan to be honest.

    ---Muriel--Morelos
    Diaz-Alzate-Barrios-James
    Mojica-Mina-Davinson-Cuadrao

I'd like to see something like this, Muriel has to start for me the second forward spot seems pretty variable to me I'd Borre/Falcao/Morelos/Borja all offer a little different, Borre or Morelos should be starting against Argentina and give us more work rate so maybe I'd go Morelos starting and Borre starting vs Argentina. I don't think Borja should be starting, his last game with his club was December 9th and he also wasn't starting and going 90's for his club for a while, should be reserved for coming off the bench in these games imo.

pleased to finally see Alzate return. I'd rly like to see him start. Half surprised he didn't rather call up some clown from Huila or whatever

1-0 win here... and we save the 2nd goal for Argentina. We just don't go to the game asleep and win 1-0... Also didn't we win 5-0 at home last time Rueda was coach again Peru. That Colombia was way weaker when Elkin Soto was our star

Tho if we win 6-0 and no one ever fking talks about the last time it happens will make me happy

    Ha.

We never do 0-0s against Peru especially in Barranquilla, so hopefully we continue to get results against them.

As they say in baseball this is the team we need to get out of a slump.

So Muriel has Covid…. And he hasn’t been replaced yet…..

I hate Rueda even if we win the next 4 games 12-0

As a neutral my guess for this one is a draw.
Unlike Colombia´s recent matches it will be a scoring one.

    1-1

^Would not be that surprised with the way we have been playing but We have had their number for a while now.
Sometimes it is difficult for a team to get a result against a team they know just has them mentally in Qualifying situations like this.

It will be interesting to see what Gareca does tactically to slow down Diaz.
He scored in Peru and of course a couple Golazos in the Copa so they may have to double team him.
That may open up chances for others. Hopefully they do not waste them like the last few matches.

Yeah, but I went with a draw. I´m not sold on Colombia´s attacking play. Peru won Venezuela on the road and had also a decent performance against Argentina on the road where they could have grabbed a point.
That´s why I see the teams sharing the spoils here.

They have to find a way to slow down Diaz in a stadium that will be filled to the brim with fans and almost 90 degrees F. (Venezuela and Argentina were different road dynamics.)

Let's see if they can do it. The odds are against them but as I said; I agree with the way we have been playing 1-1 can happen with wasted opportunities and not clicking on offense.

True, this is what you get with a mediocre manager like Rueda. Based on talent Colombia should win.

So Luis Diaz is carrying your attack these days? He made the next step this season and had an impressive Copa but he himself can´t deliver the goods I´m afraid. Others have to step up as well.

I also think a set piece with Mina scoring like in Peru can help break the ice. Hopefully more goals come after something like that.
